Looking at another Firebird.. Whats your honest opinion?
Ok, So I crashed my trans am back in 2009 and I am finally looking at buying another one but more as a project car build. I found a 1999 Pontiac Trans Am with 220,000 miles, 6 speed, Good interior, Bad paint (needs a paint job). Would it be worth to purchase for $6000 knowing that I will be needing to rebuild the engine and get a paint job eventually?
Mods. LS6 intake, MTI clear lid, K&N, Longtubes and full exhaust, short throw shifter and new clutch.
Seller is also running castrol GTX 20w50 which is also a red flag.
Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks

Thanks for the advice. I ended up steering away from it. The high miles and the fact that he is running such a thick oil makes me think the engine is almost toast, let alone the fact that its not a genuine Trans Am. But does have some good bolt ons. It is still for sale here if anyone is interested in a project car.

Maybe talk him down a grand or so.
