Default Hi from Yorkshire, England

Hi all,

I am considering buying an LS3 or and LS6 for my Cobra replica.

Whilst doing research for my engine I came across an engine builder that suggested I consider the LS6 as an alternative to a crate LS3.

He suggested the LS6 with a Tremec T56 would give me a good balance of reliability, performance and MPG; probably getting around 25 mpg on a run (partially as its a smaller 5.7ltr), giving 450bhp but with a power curve which would allow me to get the power down rather than spinning the wheels in every gear.

He suggested the LS3 out of the box can feel a bit lazy compared to an LS2 or LS6 (although he conceded they are all great engines) and suggested an LS6 would pull right through to 6.5K revs if you asked it to. Basically suggesting the LS6 is more driveable and that listening to my requirements I would probably be happier with an LS6.

I plan to use the car mainly as a tourer but for the odd track day.

He was certainly convincing in his knowledge and arguments but I thought I would throw it out there to see if any LS owners have first hand experience of this lump and can offer an opinion.
