Default Ls swap new guy here

Hey guys my name is Cory, I am here to learn as much as I can before I plunge into my Ls swap the spring/summer of 2016. I just recieved a 99 GMC sierra for free which runs and drives. I have for a long time wanted to swap an LS into my wife and I's 83 GMC pickup. Figured what better time then the present to learn as much as I can to do the swap in the mean time. I also need to know in the near future besides the obvious stuff motor, tranny, wiring harness, radiator, air intake system, and ecu. What do I need to take from the donor truck before I part it and scrap it? Any and all help is appreciated. Oh and for the heck of it here is a pic of the 99 and 83.

good news you"ll be able to take most stuff from donor truck. LT1Swap.com has the wiring info to make stand alone, time consuming but free using donor wiring. throttle cable etc will be able to use. get whats needed and sell/scrap rest of donor truck. welcome to site.
