Default 408 stroker

hi everybody Im new hear. I have always been a gear head I have helped rebuild and overhaul a few motors. I bought a 2003 gmc sierra with a LQ4 6.0 motor and a 5 speed tranny. the truck has a lot of miles on it and I have been thinking about turning my motor into a 408 stroker. now I have the jest of it and only a few questions. can I use stock heads, what cam would be best, will I have to change and external parts starter, throttel body, ect. this truck will be a daily driver so what gas mileage could I expect and will my tranny hold up ? thanks guys n gals sorry for that long post.

Everything external is reusable (if just a DD truck) you will need machine work and new rotating assembly (for bore and stroke to 408"). Search and you can read for days on different 408 builds.

I haven't worked on any newer stuff everything I have ever done was out if the 80s or back so my questions is what exactly am I getting into I want a DD 408 for under 4 grand, if possible I want around 500 hp and lots of torque I am going to use the stock 317 heads and am not sure on a cam yet I want something that will give good torque low and high RMP and the stock throttle body now what kind of performance could I expect and since this will b a DD what would my gas milage be like any help will be much appreciated thanks again

Motor will be in a 2003 gmc Sierra 2500hd with a nv4500 transmission

Just a thought but the motor shouldn't be used to hard mainly a work/play truck no racing but more than likely to spin some tires
