Default newbie here, sbc powered rx7

what's up guys, my name is Wes, and I own a 1988 mazda rx7 that is propelled down the road by a small block 305 chevy engine. The 305 is a dog, its pretty worn out and i'm currently in the market for a good 327/350 motor to build up for it. I'm not sure how you guys are going to respond to my car, most of the guys from the RX7 forums thought I was an idiot for ditching the rotary engine (I don't see any advantages of having that little pea shooter over the v8 though lol), so I don't know how you guys will respond to my little bastard import/domestic hybrid, but I'm willing to take any criticism you wanna dish out
anyway, here are some pictures of my car, enjoy

let me know what you think about it!

Hey whats going on! Man you def came to the right sight, multiple rx-7 owners here with LSx transplants. Check out the hybrid section as thats where most of them post but yea def look into picking up an lsx engine as you will save weight and make TONS more power. Nice looking car too!

If anyone gives you any crap about ditching the rotary tell em to put their money where their mouth is. RX-7 + v-8 = wicked fast and cheap.

WELCOME!
and DEFINITELY make an LSx your next engine in that thing!! You will NOT be sorry. They (FC or FD) become "sick quick" with that swap! Only problem is, you'll have to upgrade your wheel/tire setup, thereby losing any "sleeper effect" you may have had (as if the engine note does not give it away! ).

me and my roommate are currently working on a Rx-7 SBC hybrid the block is getting punched 30 over and we will begin the building stages shortly its going to end up being a 355 stock heads with 2.02's and 1.6's with the ports messaged a little bit a fairly small cam at 214 intake and 224 exhaust at .050 on a 112 lsa flat top pistons weiand dual plane intake with an edelbrach 600 cfm carb and we plan on putting that in front of a T5 tranny we are in the process of finding one right now but we are thinking with this combo we might be able to make atleast 250 horse which will push that rx7 around just fine we would build it up more but we are in college and on a tight budget

either way it will be a fun project

nice car..would be better with a lt1 or ls1 though. I'm not a huge fan of the rotary..i owned a 91 rx7. killed a apex seal..and the engine...lol. It would have been nice to through in a 20b motor though.

that thing is cleeeeean. deffinatly came to the right place...MASS already told you to peep the hybrid section. there are a lot of sick transplants in there. not to beat a dead horse or anything but, drop an lsx in there. you'll be stupid fast with a ls2 in there. i dont know why they'd give you heat about the transplant. you got the best of both worlds power and weight...or lack of it rather. welcome to the site man.
