New LS4 Owner
Hi all,
I own a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP. I had been drooling over the 5.3L V8 FWD GM W Body cars for awhile now. I got a chance to drive a Grand Prix GXP during the 2006 NHRA O'Reilly Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka. Having owned, and driven MANY W body cars in the last 5-6 years, the V8 that came with the new generation of W Bodies was truly refreshing. Torque steer is pretty bad, but hey... you have to make sacrifices somewhere right?
I am mainly a Buick guy. I have helped my dad build a 1976 Buick Skyhawk(Hawk, not Lark) with a 350 buick V8, and have rebuilt my share of GM engines. Currently he is working on a 1967 Buick Skylark, with the hopes of putting a LS1 in it. The options in that project are a nice LT1/4 or an LS1 or LS2 if the price is right. I have tried to stay as close to the 3.8L Buick variants(1997 Regal GS, 1994 Regal) as possible when owning cars, but this car.....just kinda screamed "BUY ME". Sure beats my 1994 Grand Prix 3.1L v6 eh?
I have always been immensely impressed by the LS motors that GM released. I have been lucky enough to be able to drive GTO's, the brand new Corvette(2008...and whoa....crazy nuts powerful), and the Camaro/Trans Am's that were equipped with the LS motor. I am very happy to be part of this LSx club.
I am joining to get a better knowledge of the car/motor, which...this website is one of the leading authorities on the LS motor in my opinion. I don't really know where to get any parts, or tips...but from what I have seen from browsing this forum just a little bit, it seems that there is some knowledge to be gained here. My questions mainly revolve around performance to be gained while keeping the warranty intact. If that is possible. Thanks for all the help I can give or get.....
