2001 Som Ws6
thats right. I just traded in my 1997 Trans Am in for a 2001 Trans Am WS6 in Sunset Orange Metallic. I have to say the car is noticeably nicer all the way around, but the LS1 platform is a driveability you have to adapt to for sure. I've driven them before but it's definitely much different than the LT1 I had.
Coincidentally there is a clutch issue I am trying to get worked out. Im trying to get them to fix the clutch problem I'm having but I was reading into my warranty and in the fine print it says clutch and components are not covered. but the people at the dealership assured me it would be covered.... blah...
oh well. bottom line LS1 is worth the money.
on the flipside don't ever listen to the dealership. make sure you read everything because sometimes they are full of ****..

but if you look on autotrader, ebay, and cars.com... chances are you will find a trans am that is right for you. if you have cash money and dont need to finance, you have a lot more options. if you can, buy locally. if not dont be afraid to have them ship you your TA as long as you ask questions and do your research!!! my 97 TA was bought on ebay for, i then flew up to Ohio 400 miles away and drove it home. I would do it over again too because i saved cash.

i spent 16 months looking for it and found two, one in socal with 37k for 17000 and this one in texas with 47k and took it home for 18k
they were both 2002. the only bad part about the lower mileage one was the clear coat was all scratched up and he didnt take good care of the interior either. so i picked up the one i got and love it. its 1 of 303 made in SOM WS6 in M6 configuration. and i still have to find how many came with my interior cuz some friends told me that its a rare interior also

yeah i just talked to my parents who also bought a car from that dealership the same day and we have agreed that we will exercise our right to rescind from the loan (in NC i believe you have 72 hours after the sale.) and we will take my TA and the Truck we bought back to the dealership.
The dealership is an hour away and im not trying to drive back up there, so they will either agree to have a local dealership fix it, or the car is going back, and they can lose 2 sales. im pretty much only going to drive up there again if im turning the car back in, because i don't like being lied to.
Anyone know anything that might help me out in this situation?

I wouldnt worry. With that kinda leverage you have the advantage. You might want to contact a laywer to find out the laws on that for sure. I know that car loan contracts are kinda difficult to get out of. If you scare them they will fix it. Let us know what happens and good luck.

Congrats and welcome.
Sweet deal on the t/a. What is your last 5 numbers on your vin. That is line number. Mine is 00219 and i also found out that mine is #2 of the 195 in SOM 6 speed and t-top. ASC's 14th ws6 built and there 2nd in that combo.
I found mine 3+ years ago with 15k and got it for 19k. Hope you get the clutch replaced. And some 01 and 02's came with a zo6 clutch.

UPDATE: I had a missed call from the dealership. after receiving an irritated email from me and a call from my parents (who also purchased from them), I got up with the Sales Manager and he told me they were going to take care of me this time.
The warranty does not cover "wear-and-tear" parts such as the clutch. But he assured me that it would be fixed properly. I told him my main concern is that I have to drive an hour to get there and I wanted to be sure that if i do that, that it is going to be properly fixed. I don't want them to pull the transmission and say "well the clutch is marginal and the throw out bearing could probably be replaced but..." -- If there is a problem it needs to be fixed.
So I'm driving it up there today, and they agreed to give me a loaner. When the TA is ready they will have someone drive it down here, and swap cars with me.
I think thats fair enough as long as the clutch gets the attention it needs.

A dealership should deliver the car in sound working order. If a clutch problem developed 3 months and 5,000 miles later, you'd be out of luck. But if you drive it off the lot and a problem manifests, they should fix it.
BTW, I picked up a 01 SOM T/A M6 last month. Non-WS6 but that can be fixed with a hood when I want. Always loved SOM and this time wanted an M6 so I couldn't pass it up.

i figured you guys would like some better pics of my car. my sig is crappy because i made it in paint. so here ya go.
The 97 TA I loved and miss. Some sacrifices are necessary... :-D
Large hood-scoop pic
Interior. very immaculate.
A profile photo. good shot of the Eagle wheels and new tires. I think the wheels are starting to grow on me. But if not I've got a set of Black Z06's.
the nicest *** I've seen in a long time. With a side of stock-exhaust (SLP LM1 very soon)... also i want to go two tone with the rear bumper here...
Front end. firebird license plate overlay will come when i find out where to get one.
Side by side with my roommate's 05 Roush Stage I GT
Two really sick vehicles...
that's all for now...
what do you guys think?
