Default Traded in my 2007 4.0 for a 2002 Z28..

Had an 07 4.0 Mustang, K&N Mass Air Intake, BBK 70mm throttle body, ASB underdrive pulleys, JBA Shorty Ceramic headers, JBA true dual H-pipe exhaust, JBA power cables, Steeda short shifter, and 18" Cobra R wheels with 275/35's. 28K on the car, traded it in as an even swap with a dealership for a 2002 Z28, 35th anniversary..

Hope I can get some advice on what parts to use and not to use, and some help because well, let's face it, I'm a broke *** teenager who supports himself while going to school. Oh, and I'm without a doubt glad to be part of LS1tech.

welcome to the good side. Looks like you have the basics down. Start modding like that on the Z and you'll be liking those numbers a lot better. Good luck with everything. A lot of useful information in here. My advise is read, read, and read some more.

hehe, pretty big difference, except the car doesn't really sound too much like a V8, because of the factory exhaust and lid..I'm going to go take pics right now, hopefully post them up real soon. While I'm at it, I figured i'd ask; do you guys know of any differences as far as the K&N Cold Air Intake and the SLP intake? dunno which one to get, and I think i've settled on a magnaflow catback..advice would be great!

Basically the price. Both offer a decent gain, but the SLP is cheaper, and just as good. The KN looks better though.

Yeah just go with the SLP lid. Also, don't bother with the K&N filter if you haven't bought it already, tests has been done and it flows bascially the same as a paper filter. There was a test done not to lately on the site comparing the two. I bought a SSRA (Austin performance Air kit) which works pretty well and costs around 170.00 or so.

Please note if you want the V8 rumble if would not get a magnaflow catback. I have it and even though it flows well, it sounded bascially like stock in my opinion until I put a cam in the car. Alot of people complaint that it was not loud enough for them. Look into the Loudmouth 2, or GMMG it will give you that deep rumble.

If you want to start modding I would start with a lid and catback and port the stock throttle body. Eventually you may want to add headers and the rest of the bolt ons. Those three mods alone should net some some decent gains.

I am sure you are already aware but you have the ls6 intake being a 2002 and better flowing heads than the preoius years 1998-2000.

Is it auto or manual?

If it is a manual, you may want to change to 4:11 gears. If it an automatic, a higher stall converter does wonders but just make sure you and a tranny cooler.

There is alot that can be done. Just don't rush into anything. Enjoy the ride. Good luck.

You think that was bad? I Had a friend who even put a Vortec Supercharger on his 4.0L had a few bolt ons too. And i still stomped him with my almost stock 01' WS6 when I had it.

^I knew someone who supercharged his as well as went full exhaust, clutch, and short throw. Got stomped by a lightly modded LT1.

That's exactly why my friend peter did it too. Cost him about 10k for everything and cant beat a 5speed GT with intake and exhaust........
