Newb from Las Vegas, NV
Hey everyone, I'm a newbie here on LS1Tech as I just recently acquired a 2002 SS Camaro with heads, cam, MAF, TB, headers, borla exhaust, Hurst shifter, stage II clutch, strut tower bar, and subframe connectors. Other toys include a '73 Camaro set up for street/strip fun with a 406sbc 560hp/544tq, Jerico 4 speed, 9" Moser rear w/3.77's, CE Slide-a-link, Cal-Tracks split mono leaf spring, goes 12.30 at 114mph on old 8" stock car slicks. New 10" M&H stickys just mounted up for next week. I'm also an avid circle track stock car racer. I've got an ASA modified, hence the name modracer18, I run weekly between march and september. I guess that's about it for the fun stuff.

I'm sure I'll see you around then, I go through there daily. Keep an eye out for a white SS in the near future as I still need to take a closer look and see if the cats are gone or not so I can either smog it and register it or figure out how to get it to pass smog and then register it.

Can you recommend a tuner here in Vegas? I'm new to the whole modded LT1 & LS1 cars. I just don't want to keep going in circles trying to register this car. It's been basically sitting in this guys garage for two years and hasn't been registered since most of the mods.

As long as your car isn't showing more than 2 emissions codes you can pass smog with flying colors. I don't have cats and I'll still pass.
Welcome to the board, I'm on Sahara/Durango. Hopefully we can see you around.

If you have a $60 scanner, you can see in a heartbeat if you will pass.

Okay. No SES light. I have a scanner. What should I be looking for? I'll just find a tuner to tune the cats out? Going to pick the car up now.

That's what I've heard. They just input a number for the rear O2 sensors, and the computer thinks everything is OK.
Not sure if all scanners work the same way, but mine has 3 lights. Green = OK, Red = problem with one or more systems or Diagnostic Test Code(s) (DTC) are present, and Yellow = there is a pending DTC or the car hasn't completed self diagnostic (so you can't just reset the DTCs just before going for a smog test). If the rear O2s are tuned out, and everything else is OK, you should get a green light, and should pass smog.
With all the mods on the car, I'd be suprised if it doesn't have a custom tune, and already have this done. In fact, with no SES light, I think it has to have already been done.
