Super Newb from Chicago, IL - Need Advice
Hey, I was referred to this website by one of my expert car friends. I'm pretty set on purchasing a 2000 Camaro RS 70K miles, for 5G. I believe it's a good deal from the looking I've been doing, and I cannot afford a Z28 or SS. I'm 16yrs old, and am getting really interested in cars, but am a super noob and do not know jack **** about cars. I'm hoping to learn something from the members here.
Oh, and the camaro does have some modifications to it. It has a flowmaster exhaust, subs, wheels, suspension, and some other minor stuff.
The questions I have:
- Do you think it's a good deal?
- Do you think I should purchase this Camaro or can you refer me to another fast and nice car under 5K?
-What can I do to the car to get the most power, spending the least amount of money possible?
- Any other comments??

Welcome !
What is stopping you from affording a v8 insurance gas parents?
Personally I would get a v6 and just drive it with gas prices , Dont mod it and just save for a v8 when you get older,
or for 5k you can get a older lt1 camaro/bird and make your way up that route,

I had a 1996 V6 Camaro for 4 years as a daily driver and it was great. Decent power and great gas mileage. I kinda wish I bought another V6 F-body for a daily driver instead of my LT1 Camaro since it was more money plus I baby it to get good gas mileage anyway and never use the extra power.
Plus, if it's your only car and you have to drive it in winter, a V6 car is MUCH easier to drive in the snow! Trust me I lived in the Chicago area all my life until 3 years ago so I know. And no offense, but I can almost guarantee that being a new driver you will wreck a V8 car the first winter if not sooner.
I'd go for a V6 car but I think you can find a better deal than $5K for one.
