Default LT1 vs. Newer subaru impreza

I assume it was not an sti, because it didn't have a wing... so anyway

Im comin home from island drag tonight and I noticed the subaru coming out of a McDonalds. I didn't think of anything but I kept my eye on him in my rear view. Im crusin down a 2lane highway (2 going in 1 direction) and I see him come flyin up to pass me, but he cant because there is traffic in the right lane.

I see him try to blow by me as the right lane opens up (we are crusin at about 65 right now, my sweet spot)... and i shut his pass down by putting it into 3rd.

We get past all the traffic and start from a roll at 70mph to about 100. He gets the punch and i immediately shut him down and put cars on him.

We get to a red light, i roll my window down, and notice 3 high school kids with their hats on sideways smirking... i said "Hey, you know you cant touch me top end"

they laughed and said "whatever"

So the light turns green, and I didnt have enough time to react to launch well, so I'm spinning as hes going. I catch at about 20mph and proceed to shut his 2car or so lead down, and put buses on him at around 65-70mph.

He didnt stay for the next run, he turned right at the next light

oh well was fun

btw, my mods:
spec stage 2 clutch
!tb coolant
TPIS air foil
SFCs
trailing arms
flowmaster muffler (didnt put it in i hate it)

his mods:
rims
fart can
???

Good kill. I love doing that to those kids. Probably wasn't a STI, but none the less its all fun.

I saw a stock one with fart cans running mid 14s at the track last weekend, which is what a stock LT1 does here. So I'm kind of doubting 'bus lengths' by 70mph, but good kill.

Don't get me wrong, I am not an import fan by any means, but even with 3 people there wouldn't be buslength differences.

And if they were rockin the sideways hat, chances are they are about 110lbs each

A regular Impreza is a non-turbo 4 cylinder with 165 hp, and they typically don't have rear spoilers (although some WRX and STI owners remove their wings). The best way to tell the difference is to notice whether it had a hood scoop or not...

Impreza 2.5:

I'm thinking of a WRX, so if you're talking about a base model then it's very likely.

Props to the english major for correcting the thread

A lot of STI's remove the wing these days. I was recently at SubieFest and there was probably 5 wingless cars for every winged car. If you put that many lengths on him, it was a WRX.
