Default Stock CD changer in unstock 2000 Camaro? Will it work?!

I can get a CD changer from a 2000 TA. Will it work (plug and play) in a 2000 Camaro that DID NOT have one from the factory. I know all were wired for it....

Yes, the CD changer used in all f-bodies was the same model - interchangeable between Camaro and Firebird. On 2000+ models the changer will work with any factory head unit. Prior to 2000, it only worked with cassette head units.

The wiring is already there if you have the factory Monsoon system. However, the mounting brackets aren't there unless your car had a changer from the factory - the brackets were welded to the floor pan. It's not difficult to make your own mounting setup - it just takes more time than simply bolting it in.

Can you swap in a 2000-2002 CD Headunit into an older car? My 99 SS has a factory Monsoon with a CD HU but my 98 Z28 has a non-Monsoon tape-deck HU with a 12 disk changer. I replaced the tapedeck with a CD unit and I would like to install the changer into my SS but will a 2000+ CD HU work the changer if I install it into my 99 SS?

Yes, the head units are interchangeable between model years. So you can put a newer head unit that supports a CD changer into an older car and the factory changer will work with it.

Yep. I just switched out my headunit for a 2000+ CD headunit to get iPod integration working. Aux input works like a charm. As long as you still have the factory headunit, install is plug & play (the exception being the mounting brackets).
