Default Interesting article in the local paper

This is slightly off topic, however worth talking about. In the Sunday local paper, there is an article stating that GM has entered talks to acquire Chrysler from Cerberus. Of course the source wasn't identified. Has anyone else heard about this? I don't see how GM could do this given the current situation.

I heard Chrysler was in talks to buy GM, or at least the managment firm would take over.

The article is on-line at msnbc.com. Sounds like things are on the back burner for a while due to the market meltdown.

GM would be acquiring Chrysler, not the other way around. It was going to be more of a trade from my understanding. GM would be getting Chrysler from Cerberus in exchange for GM giving up its remaining stakes in GMAC financing to Cerberus.

A merge was also being discussed. Probably wouldn't work out in the long run.
