auto or 6-speed? The rear is a toss up whether its being sprayed or not, Sometimes they last long sometimes not so long. I sprayed off the line with a 239rwhp shot (667 RWHP) on a completely stock 10-bolt and it never broke, but I was lucky. The tranny will start to slip if its an auto after a while too. The more power = the better stuff you need.

Yep, I would definately go with a 12bolt/9'' also and as far as rebuilds, my friend's was rebuilt by PerformaBuilt and shifts perfecly with the 4k stall and I think they even have some kind of October/Halloween special because that was when his was ordered last year on sale!!!

Performabuilt and FLT are sponsors on here. You get what you pay for, if you skimp and go cheap with a hillbilly shade tree mechanic build, don't expect it to last. These 2 sponsors will take care of you and back up their products. You will also need a good converter if you don't have one. If you do, it should at a minimum be cleaned and checked out.

I would look into a Century transmission. They are a sponsor on this board too.

FLT, great guys with awesome service and willing to help work with you. I have one of their transmissions and its running strong after 50 or so nitrous passes with an auto car that is make nearly 600hp to wheels. I don't know if i would get a 12bolt though i have heard of some problems with the trq arms and housing getting tweaked and making the gears whine. Do your research before you make any purchases and you will be happy.

I have a built tranny but stock rear. I have h/c with 125 shot right now. Lots of hole shots on unpreped surfaces. Rear is still holding strong. I am running full suspension and M/T's.
