Default Another 2V goes down

I was heading home from getting my haircut and saw a friend of a friend about to get off of the freeway. I threw him a rev and said what's up.
Next thing I know he down shifts his Mustang GT and flies past me then slows down to get to my side. I was in 3rd in my auto and he wanted to run. There was significant traffic and I told him there wasn't enough room to really get a good run in. He keeps revving so I said ok.

we take off and I pull but then my car hits the limiter [ something that happens when I'm in 3rd from time to time ] I was still in front but had to slow due to upcoming traffic. Finally the freeway clears but I tell him again that it isn't the best time to run. He insists so this time I just say screw it and put my car into OD.

He honks it of and stays next to me for literally a second and then I yank him bad, maybe 3-4 cars, I let off right at the top of 3rd.
He pulled back up and gave me the thumbs up and got off of the freeway. I tried to give him an out lol......

His mods are:LTs, O/R H or X [ I forget ], CB, Ram Air/CAI intake, TB/Plenum, Bulitt intake. He said he put down 270-275 IIRC

My mods are in my sig

No I know, I didn't want to run him since I knew I would walk him hard. He's the one that pursued me lol. I know him through a friend.... I tried talking him out of it but he kept going pacing me lol

Fixed.

I kid, I kid....nice kill, OP. Sounds like he was out looking for some fun. Sometimes it's just nice to see a faster car take off even when you know you're going to lose. I know, for example, that I'd never turn down a run with a new Z06, even though it would hand me my ***.

I do this way too often. Some people are scared to lose..what will people think? I just like to see where I'm at, if they can drive, and yes sometimes just watch the fast car take off

Sometimes it takes seeing another car take of on you to make you want to push your car that much further. He was just trying to get some motivation OP. Good kill.

I tried to let him off the hook by telling him there was too much traffic

Good run man... running a full bolt-on 2V (especially with stock gears) against a STOCK LS1 isn't usually a great idea (except maybe a 2.73-geared automatic convertible), but bolt-on vs. bolt-on is just asking for it. If he ever gets some 4.10s and DRs though, he might be a decent race from a stop. Anymore plans for your car?

I just bought some suspension parts, have a stall coming in the next couple of weeks as well as a cam. Then I'll be looking into beefing up the rear and trans while also adding more suspension.

The only problem for him is that I'm an auto and it is a lot easier to launch this car than a M6. I raced my buddies 3v at the track and he would slightly launch on me with me pulling him and finally beating him by a .1-.2

His car make good power for what it is, if I was a LT1 with bolt ons I might be slightly worried lol. I've owned to 2V GTs so I know what they are capable of

Thanks for the props

with a good driver they don't do too bad. my buddy had one with just exhaust (stock manifolds) and a shifter and he ran 13.6

i also know several people that ran high 13's stock so with a couple bolt ons they can be mid 13's.
