Default Hydraulic Roller Guys - How fast are you running N/A?

I'm interested specifically in 10-11sec H/R N/A Lt1 cars, I don't care who did the heads or cam.
I'd like to see how you're running and what you did to get there.

Mods you liked, or worked well and things you think you could have done better (or not at all).

I know you're out there LOL
When I filter the "fastest list" an remove all of the power adder and SR cars, there are still a few left still running H/R.

I am also subscribing to this post.

I am wondering if I should go SR and hassle with adjusting the valves.

I don't want to make it a SR/HR debate thread, but I have fought the idea over in my head several times.
I suppose if it were more of a toy or something I raced more, I'd be more likely to go SR.
At the moment, I'd just like to be able to enjoy the car anytime I want without
having to deal with adjustments or streetability. I do a lot of cruising with local clubs
in town and around the state. I also take the wife and kids out in this thing from time to time.
I joke that it's my grocery-getter. It helps keep the wife's grocery spending in check.
"If it don't fit, you can't buy it" (I've found that the car holds a lot more than you'd expect LOL)

Time is in sig, but I'm not much different than your old setup. Sounds like your current build will be a solid low 11 to possible high 10 car! I wish I'd done more research like looking into LE or AI before putting together my combo. I'm redoing cam, heads, and fuel system this winter, hopefully I can keep up! A complete list of my mods is listed in my gallery on ltxtech. Good luck with the build.

You're running a pretty lean raceweight as well, right?
I don't mean to snoop into details you don't want share, but it's important
to compare apples to apples.

Times/mph in sig...226/234 weenie cam and 3600ish raceweight...That was with a Vig 3600. I've since upped the stall to 4000 and added a Spohn Pro series rear sway bar...If I get a chance to run the car this year I'm hoping for a 10.99 run...I've also sold the Bogarts and returned the car to stock wheels and 275 55 R16 28" M&H drag radials to try the sleeper look...But we'll see... If Greg Weld gets those damn 15x10 rears squared away I may do that since I have their fronts...But it looks so cool to look so stock...

I managed a 11.6 @ 122.5 with a crappy 1.83 60ft on my setup. Since then, I have added some better springs, shocks, and lca relocation brackets, which I hope will get me into the deep 11's once I get the setup dialed in.

As far as driveability, I think my setup is very streetable. I was in the same situation that you were in with deciding on HR or SR. I eventually went with a HR because I wanted to be able to drive the car all over without worrying about the extra maintenance. For example, the car has been on parts of the Hot Rod Power Tour for the last 2 years and its never left me stranded. Also, I have seen some SR setups that have put down similar or less hp#'s as mine.

Recent mods that were added and I liked were some Jesel Shaft Mounts and
QA shocks with front 300lb springs. As for as the others mods, I am happy with my motor setup and basically the rest of the car.

My 8th mile times are in the sig.

They convert to a low 11sec 1/4 time. My cam is very low 230s and I ran the Ai 190cc heads. Race weight with driver of around 3550. This is with a nitrous converter that went to 3500 on the brake. Nothing special other than good parts and attention to detail. I could make a laundry list of parts I would avoid if I did it again.

The "deal" with having a solid roller is not that bad, I drive mine all over the place. Once the initial incar adjustment(warm is done after 100 miles or so) mine seems to be fine. I check them every 2000 miles or so, and they seem to be fine.

I put about 3-4000 miles a year on mine on the street.

I have since loosened my converter, I see 10.90's in my future.

You referring to me?

Well seeing as my raceweight is 350lbs heavier than you, the ol car does pretty good.

The converter on the 11.02 pass would only stall 1800 ish on the footbrake, best 60 foot EVER is a 1.50, generally its a 1.52. Now it stalls 3000 . SHOULD wake the car up. It feels different for sure!

We will see here shortly.

I think people are so scared of solid rollers because:

They dont REALLY know how to adjust valves.

Old technology tells us they fail easily.

Old technology tells us they require alot of maintenance.

But really:

Adjusting valves is easy, plenty of places on the net to walk you through it. Best way is to adjust through the firing order. Rotating every 90*

New technology with pressurized roller lifters make them MUCH more durable.

New technology lobe profiles help longevity.

The KEY is to have pressurized lifters and 25-30 psi minimim HOT oil pressure at idle.

I have 4000 miles on mine, I just tore it down because of a nitrous mishap. It all looks VERY good!

^I completely agree. I am rather surprised to see guys with more race oriented cars still running hydraulic roller cams. As for maintenance you are only talking a half hour if that to check and adjust your lash.

I have a hyd roller car that has been 11.2s@ 121. Race weight around 3500ish and a stock bottom end. Hopefully with the new setup it will go a little quicker with leather and A/C.
