Default LQ4 in Third Gen Camaro

I have an 86 camaro that i recently finished swapping an LQ4 into. The only modifications done so far are a cam and carburated intake.

The camshaft is a comp cams XR275HR - 222/224 - .566/.568
just some LS6 springs on the stock cast iron heads, the intake is an edelbrock rpm, and i am using the MSD 6LS box. My best time with it so far is an 11.97 at 113mph. Here are a few pics.

Mill those heads or get you some 243s and run some mid to low 11s. Then spray a 100-125 shot and run some easy mid 10s. Great looking swap by the way

thanks guys, my plans for it are that i think im going to try a 4L80e swap with a manual valve body, some L92's, then a possible twin turbo setup if i have enough money. all that would hopefully make a 9 second street car

I'm mostly running the same engine as you but not finished. (LQ9, Same cam, Patriot gold springs, Hardened pushrods, Victor Jr intake and a 750 holley)
I was really wondering how this setup would do on the track. Good to know. Do you like the cam?

Nice! I love 3rd gens and LSx's together! Just crossing my fingers to one day find a build of one that's TT'd, slammed, and bad-to-the-bone looking

yeah i really like it for the track but i need a set of heads for sure, i wouldnt mind a little bit more duration on the cam, and a single plane intake because i run it up to around 7000. but other than that it has a nice power curve, pulls good from around 2500 all the way up to 6800. Its a very fun street car i think you will be very happy with your LQ9.
