Default LSX Conversion Headers

OK plenty of headers out there for putting an LSX into a 69 Camaro. Why the hell are they so expensive. I dont want SS cause they are running almost $1000. I bought Hookers for my original GEN I, and they were half the cost even coated. Any suggestions on some plain steel headers for this app. that wont break the bank?

Hooker 2288.....I have found them as cheap as 500.00 if you look around the net. Not too sure how much the Edelbrock ones are.

Were they coated? Still seems pricey, to bad I just couldnt cut up a Gen 1 set and put new flanges on them.

You can. I plan to hack up my hooker super comps, won't resell for near what I gave for them, so why not give it a try. I have been looking at the 98 manifolds, and looks like I can cut the flanges off them and try to reuse them. They say BB headers work real close.

i bought a pair of LS1 Pacesetter LT's on this board for 300 bucks shipped, ceramic coated and everything,i am fabbing 1 tube per side to make them fit my 87 MonteSS in the sig.I am sure you can do something similar,800-$1000.00 for LSX based headers is bullshit, you are not getting any better quality, just different bends for an easier fit.

My Edelbrock headers were $600 from Summit. Still expensive but well worth it in my opinion... nice stuff! Here is a link with some part numbers...

You can change the flanges on a set of SBC headers but you also need to move two tubes on each side. This is what I did for my son's LSx into an 89 IROC swap.

Ive got an lsx/ford swap question if anyone knows?
Any truth to a set of GTO longtubes fitting into a Fox/SN95 Swap? I read this once on here...but couldnt find any more info.. (05 GTO or 06+GTO?),

cuz the Pacesetter GTO headers are pretty inexpensive compared to modifying a set of 351W swap headers with an LS1 flange, or getting a set of Kooks swap headers ($700-800!).....

i know that 5.0 windsor headers can be reused with ls1 flanges. need to hack off ford flanges and weld on ls1, very little modification to fit besides the cutting and welding. should line right up. ford 5.0 windsor and ls1 exhaust ports are dam near identical in spacing. in other words some 5.0 headers will work.
