Well I'm currently building a N/A 302 to beat cammed LS1's or 150 shot bolt on LS1s. The combo is pretty mild. Some Trickflow TW heads, a Trickflow cam, and the Trickflow Box R intake. What do you guys think it will make/run all motor?

I'm hoping it will make over 400rwhp and maybe with the right gears run around high 10's low 11's.

I wouldn't expect more than 350rwhp to be honest with stock cubes. What are the specs of the cam?

The cam is something a guy at Trickflow and I came up with. Its a hydr roller so nothing big. I gotta drive this car around daily.

With a hydro roller I would say no more than 345-350rwhp.
A friend of mine has a Trickflow heads and intake but an E cam in his 306 and makes right at 320rwhp, but I'd imagine your trickflow cam has a little more "oomph" than his E303.

It might not make 400rwhp because of the T56. I'm not much of a dyno queen anyways. However I would like it to be somewhere around 120+mph in the 1/4th all motor. 11.50's on street tires and maybe 10.90's on slicks.

With a 331, 400rwhp is definitely possible with cleaned up heads a nice intake and custom cam.

Should be a real fun street car.

Not to start a war but I've had both heads and I feel Trickflow is much better than AFR both in flow numbers (obviously) and how fast they make something.

I can't wait to get this motor together and throw some gears behind it. I don't think its going to work with my current 3.27 gears. :lol:

With my drag wheels I'm guessing somewhere around 3,350lbs but I honestly have no idea. And rear gear I'd like to get away with 4.10s since my transmission has a 2.97 1st gear, 2.07 2nd gear, and a 1.43 3rd gear plus my aluminum flywheel. But I'm probably going to have to put in some 4.30 gears. We will see...

My stock piston 302 with AFR 165 heads, Performer intake, and a custom cam made 328rwhp @ 5,500rpms. This motor I'm spinning it to a max of 7,400rpms. If it only makes 350rwhp it will stay in the car long enough for me to pull it back out and drop in the 410W I'm working on now.

What are the cam specs or is that a secret? Not being a smartass just a lot of guys don't want that info out there. How much compression? Those heads will move a lot of air for a small cube engine and if your spinning it to 7400 I'm guessing its not a baby cam.

I am a little over 400RWHP right now. My 12 bolt and LS7 clutch robs a few on the dyno but thats just numbers. Get 4.11 gears. They work well with T56. Plenty of pick up and don't run a super high RPM in 6th so they are good for a DD :D. Good luck with build.

Thanks man! I was seriously thinking about 4.10s but everyone and their Grandfather was telling me that they won't be enough gear even after I explained to them that my T56 revs FAST! Honest to God my 3.27 gears now seem like 3.55s or 3.73s. Like I said I'm going to try 4.10s first and if they don't work I'll throw in the 4.30s. No big deal.

Thanks man, I hope it runs good and the block holds together for a while. This motor was just something I wanted to try. And its going to stay in the car long enough for me to get the 410W together.

The cam was the last thing bought. ;) And we grinded it around the 205 heads we built and the box intake. The motor will be a turd below 4,500rpms but its going to roll out up top. But if anyone asks....tell them its a H/C/I 302. :lol: See sig

Well except for the cubes it is a H/C/I car, I can overlook a few cubes. Not to sound like an ass but I have never seen a small cube engine that wasn't a turd below 4500 RPM. They need the revs to make the HP. Hell even 350's won't make great numbers down low if you are trying squeeze everything you can out of them.

Just as an example, my brother just ran a 11.74 @ 117mph with a 1.66 60' in an M6 Z28 making 400 rwhp. Being that you're car is a couple hundred pounds lighter and you can probably get a 1.5 60' I think a low 11 is definitely possible with 400+ rwhp. I think it would take the correct alignment of the planets to see a high 10, but it wouldn't shock me too much if you did.

I'm shooting for 460ish to the wheels through the HEAVY drivetrain and a 10.9 with no real weight reduction. Technically, there will be a little weight reduction from some aftermarket suspension parts, but stock other than that. The car currently weighs 3,500 pounds without me in it and I'm 150-155.

Yeah, I can't 60' well right now with these stock 16s, 3,650 race weight, and ridiculously short gearing that kills my traction. It's easily got a 1.5 in it if I can get it to hook and that will happen soon enough but it spins like a bitch right now if I try any launch over 5500 or so. I'm thinking 1.4s with the higher power, 15s, and slicks. :D

But anyways, regarding your setup it's gonna be quite a challenge to make that thing hit 10.9s at that weight and only 400rwhp. I'm sure you can get it done, but it's not gonna be easy! Keep us posted on the build. I'm especially curious to see what it puts down.

Those are some nice numbers. I dynoed a while ago but was having problems on the dyno. We were running pretty lean and with 11psi very little timing letting out at 5200 it pulled 365rwhp and 395rwtq. Since then I have fixed all of the issues but I bought a PMS and have re tuned it myself but havent gotten any new numbers. Now I run 4-5psi more and run an additional 5* timing so I figure it is safe to say 400+. I would hope for 450 or so but I figure to be conservative so I am surprised when I do redyno it.

Well, I had a 302, stock rods, stock crank, stock pistons
custom ring pack, gt40p heads, performer rpm intake, hp650 carb, custom grind .500 lift camshaft. 1 5/8 headers and 2.5 inch exhaust.
It had 456 gears and made 400 to the wheels, naturally aspirated, through a gforce T5.
AT 3200lbs it went mid 11.33 @ 117. I hit it with a 150 shot and it went 10.30@130 with the 5 speed.

In the dead of winter the tuner and me figured my car was around 550rwhp.not much difference in combos. except the cam , and you did yours with a 74mm at 8 psi. pretty stout numbers for low boost. once i get the dart sportsman in her ill beable to turn the boost way up .

Oh and good news!!!! The hood clears! So all damn day today I got to try to figure out why the hell the stock motor mounts wouldn't go into place. They would fall into the slots but the little placement nipple wouldn't go into its slot. Didn't get much of anything done today other than getting the intake to clear the hood finally. And I think the headers will clear even with the stock motor mounts. If not it will be a slight dent in the headers, no big deal.

It is white. I was just saying that is the hood (on another car). The 410 should be 500+rwhp N/A and will have the Zex perimeter plate on a Super Vic EFI intake. Spraying a 200 shot.

Its just to poke fun at my GM friends on here like Manalishi and some others. I really mean nothing by anything in my sig. Infact as soon as I can afford it I plan on 1 of 3 things happening...

1: Get a C5 (most likely one)

2: Get a LS1 SS M6

3: Get a Foxbody coupe and put a stroked LS2 in it.

Now I'm thinking about digging around under the hood of the SS :devil:

But anyways, I would mod the SS. I'm starting to get the LSX bug. :( My dad is thinking about getting a cammed LS3 Vette sometime soon. :D I get to toy around with one without the payments.

Yea the 410 should be what I'm putting in now instead of the weak sauce 331. I bet I will get tired of the power by summer time. I'm hoping the 4.30 gears will atleast make it a fun ride. We will see. And yea I'd like a C5 but a house needs to come first. I don't want to pay rent for very long. :bang:

Well I'm currently building a N/A 302 to beat cammed LS1's or 150 shot bolt on LS1s. The combo is pretty mild. Some Trickflow TW heads, a Trickflow cam, and the Trickflow Box R intake. What do you guys think it will make/run all motor?

I'm hoping it will make over 400rwhp and maybe with the right gears run around high 10's low 11's.

I've been thinking about it alot and decided my next car will be a black C5 targa top. I will still have my 2 Mustangs because they are paid off...so I won't say I'll be a chevy or ford man....I'll be somewhere in the middle. :D

if you go boosted run a 6.0l truck motor that way you can take advantage of the 4" bore instead of the 3.9" because it will clear larger valves. Plus you can pick up a used lq4 longblock for cheap and the block and crank will be good for 1000+ rwhp the 317 the heads are built for low compression and have a tall deck height also whick are p[erfect for boost. then it depends on what if you what stage heads and what cam to use. But there is a sponsor on here making 900rwhp with a bone stock lq4 6.0l truck motor just for refrence.

Same thing but the LQ4 has dished pistons for lower compression. LQ9 has flat top pistons.

LQ4= Sierra/Silverado 2500
LQ9= Denali

Any numbers on the 302 btw? I didn't wanna read every page :lol:

Not yet, still haven't gotten everything ironed out. Right now I'm making sure the headers will clear. It has been too damn cold to work on the car lately. (21 degrees right now) I will hit it hard Friday-Sunday though.

If the compression is around 9:5.1(looking at the pistons) then you will be lucky to see 330rwhp with a combo like that. Not trying to put a damper on your hopes here but I have been into mustangs for a long time and thats a very common combo you are running with proven numbers in the 295-330rwhp.

I think alot of people are neglecting its a 331. I wouldn't call anything thats a stroker a 302, but that's just me, and ordinarily he'd be correct. Especially if it was only getting twisted to 5800-6000. Hope you see some longevity if your'e doing 7500 on a stock block.

The fuel rails will not stop leaking at the fittings. The feed line fitting is leaking where it meets the rails and the two crossover fittings are leaking at the rails. I've tried 2 brands thread sealant and teflon tape and they still leak.

Should be this Friday. The exhaust is being made and put on tomorrow. Not sure which mufflers I want to run. Its either the Flowmaster Super 44's I have or the straight through Magnaflows.

Perhaps not what you were expecting and not exactly able to rival the LS for rwhp but it should be pretty strong with a shot coupled to it. Hopefully your block will let you thrash it accordingly! :)

well that clears it up i remember him saying like he wanted to make low-mid 400's on motor with this build and i figured he fell short. I just see a lot of 5.0l builds that seem stuck in that low to mid 300rwhp range so i figured that is what he got.
