Well..Last night was my first try on the track ... Car is m6 has boltons...

The goddam Nitto radials won't hook up whatever happens...I put the tire pressure to 20... burn the hell out of them...and they never hooked in 3 tries..I went dissapointed and hold a chair to watch the rest of the test and tune event instead of burning the tires and the clutch... and one more thing..there was a lot of FAST CARS there !! dam I need a lot to go along with them..lol

I thought that I need to stop thinking paying a lot of money to reach one second difference !!! what's the freakin point !!

what's the problem with traction !!

I enjoy driving my car daily than trying to reach numbers...Does anyone think that street racing is more interesting !!

It aint the Nitto's, its that you need more practice driving. I ran a 13.4 on sumitomo's, which are pretty much the worst tire, my first time to the track. In the heat, just bolt ons.

Just practice practice. Maybe talk to some other fast m6 guys and get some advice. I would give you advice, but I'm no good at launching my m6 either

Well,what size nitto's were you running? What suspension did you have?

I assume you were a M6? You should try this:

1) lower rear psi to 15-16

2) Don't just clutch dump it. Rather, rev to ti about 3500-5500(depends on the car) and SLIP the clutch out of the hole. You dont have the tire or the rear end to be able to just sump the clutch.

3) you should be shooting for 1.9x-2.0 60'. That will net you a respectable 1/4 time.

4) take all unneeded crap out of the car at the track. Simply put more weight=slower et

5) shift harder(I'm sure you think you are shifting hard, but you gotta get it in your head it isn't your car, you stole it, and you are TRYING to break it, haha)

Don't let it break your heart, just get pissed and get back out there. 99% of the time, you are not out there to beat the guy in the next lane, so don't worry about what they are running. Just focus on your car.

Like anything it takes practice to get good at dragracing. Talking about broken heart I watched a new guy to dragracing total a brand new $80K Viper at the dragstrip last night.

i run 245/50 16 nitto drag radials on my car, and run them at 16 psi on the track, they hook decent enough to pull a 1.69 60ft on motor.

You need practice 1st. off with a stick car period, & don't think that hooking up is the answer, because on any stick car its not, you'll go from spinning too bogging, you need to find the sweet spot, play with tire pressure, then launch technigues, just dumping the clutch won't work, my car is set up for harder launches, yours is not, so another thing to be aware of is breaking something (like the rearend), if your tires spin your good, you just need to tame the spin down, you don't want to ride out the cluch too much either, you'll just burn it up, i would drop those tires down to at least 17-18 psi, get the tach at 2500 on the "stage bulb", then let out as quick as possible without "dumping" the clutch but without rideing the heck out of it either, then get it to the floor, if it still blows the tires, then just change one thing at a time, so lower the pressure down to 16 psi & go back & do the "EXACT" same thing you did on the last run, if it still blows them again, then try leaving at say 2200 rpm & keeping everything the same, if this doesn't help, then don't hit it too the floor as quick once the clutch peddle is out, ease it too the floor, its all practice with a stick car, sure a good set of DRs like MTs or Hoosiers will hook it up, but then **** can/will go snap or you'll for sure burn out the clutch (especially if its stock), you don't want that, so some tire spin is your friend, it can/will give a better 60ft. plus save parts. IMO, 13.8s on a 1st. time out is great, so don't feel disapointed.

I ran a 17.8 about 5 years ago in my 96 ford ranger, talk about SLOW!

1st time i ever took my LS1 drag racing, i ran a 13.8, and by the end of the night i hit 13.5. This was with a catback only on sumitomo street tires.

I haven't heard the best results out of nittos. You could stand to drop the tire pressure like the others have said maybe even 1 to 2 psi lower than 15. Start at 16 and after you're hooking decent..experiment with the tire pressure. I have MT ET Streets and side stepped the clutch @ 4 grand to the tune of a 1.6 60 with no suspension mods and exhaust. Don't heat the tires too long. Spin the tires over one time in the water. Roll up and get the car rolling backwards slowly. Drop the clutch in second and stay on the gas and brakes for atleast 5 full seconds. Keep the rpms up and steady. Release the brake and drive smoothly out to the tree. This method with a lil row boat action (powershifting) and your times will drop dramatically. Oh and you could stand to go with a 4.10 or lower if you're close to the 1/4

i like the track more than the street.. no excuses... everyone sees what happens, along with times to back it up... plus i think its just more fun in general.. i enjoy being there..

What??? I have never heard of this before? That's a good way to bust a 10bolt. Shoot, that's a good way to break a 12 bolt/9inch for that matter, let alone your trans/DS, or other moving parts that have to take that kind of abuse.

don't be so broken, I've made about 30 passes at the track now and am barely figuring out what my car likes to launch at, what i need to shift at, and how I need to drive it to get the right time. thing is, as soon as i figure this out i break the car lol. my point is, being an m6 we have to perfect our technique, its going to take time and practice. launching/racing on the street is completly different than the track. just practice n have fun, thats the whole part of it

Thats funny I've done it for 6 years now and never busted anything. I have water on my tires so it doesn't exert the force you're thinking of. It actually works quite well.
