I'm considering buying a new Z06 and would like to know track times and dyno #s.Also what are popular, proven bolt-on mods. Are the clutch and 6 sp an improvement over the F-body hardware. Also what is a good price to pay for one.I'm pretty tight with a local dealer, but would like a ballpark figure for negotiations. Thanks

I'd say track times for a stock Z06 would be in the low/mid 12s with a good driver. (factory rating is 12.4) And, boltons are going to be debated from person to person. Catbacks are mainly going to be for sound, and apperance, and may gain a little power over the stock Ti exhaust, but its mainly for sound. Along with most everything else, the factory equip on the Z06 is top notch (but, that doesnt mean it cannot be improved upon). You're probably lookin into doin long tube headers, a diff air intake (like a VaraRam or Blackwing or zip tie mod), just typical things of that nature.

And a ballpark figure for the price would have to depend. You could probably pick up an 03 Z06 for cheaper then when they first came out, but it also depends on the dealer and all that. A high volume Corvette dealer of course is going to have a cheaper car then a dealer that gets 1 vette ever 2 years. But, with that said, i'd say between 48-52 would be a range you're going to pay for a new Z06. When we had our Z06 @ work, it was like 50-53. Just my opinion...

Ling's post is dead on. There have been deals of 7 grand off of MSRP for the 2003s while 2004s are already on the lot. Those may be gone. You should be able to still get close to 5 grand off. You just have to shop hard and be willing to travel to pick one up. There are some good Vendors on other forums who will provide you with exact numbers. If you like it, then go pick up your car. It is that simple. Good luck and have fun.

BTW, my best time in a bone stock ZO6(350rwhp/350tq) was 12.3@116. I am average at best driver.

I have one of the better times in a Z06. 1.85 60' / 11.933@114.52 as delivered from GM. A set of Et Streets and pulling the airbox lid off got me to a 1.675 60' / 11.596@118.56. Z06s can be had cheaply enough Rick Daniels @ Maxie Price has good deals. Look on Corvetteforum.com and Z06vette.com for a list of dealers.

as an example:
$700.00 Below dealer invoice thru 09-15-03
All in stock Z06s will be sold at $700.00 below dealer invoice thru 09-15-03. I will gladly share the invoice with you. This offer does not include the Z16/Z06. You must speak to Rick Daniel only for this Forum Offer. Please click the link below for availability. This is a $6,437.00 discount.

Thanks,
Rick Daniel

I picked up a millennium yellow 2003 ZO6 this afternoon.I paid $47,445 with the rebate included.I traded my 2002 Silverado HD 4x4 8.1 with almost 60,000 miles on it.They gave me $22,500 for the truck,it was a LS with several small dents and scratches.I was shocked when they came up with that high of a number,I only paid 31 and change for it new 2 years ago.I put 90 miles on the car this evening and had a huge grin on my face every time I got on the loud pedal hard.I love it and just stared at it for 10 minutes in my shop after I put it away for the night. Now I have to figure what mods to do first. :D :drive:

You'd be suprised what those HD trucks are getting used. When i worked for the Chevy dealer, we had a few trade-ins on newer 03-04 trucks, and they were about the same range as your truck. They hold their value VERY well. That, and they're awesome to beat on! hehe.

But, congrats on the C5 purchase! Welcome to the Vette family...just remember to WAVE @ other vette drivers. Nothing worse then a stuck up prick who cant wave to a fellow vette brother (or sister for the ladies).

And you wont have too long to worry about mods...you're already a member of LS1tech, so you know where to look for help :p
