Default relocating radio or air controls?

ok ive been throwing around several ideas, i have some A-pillar gauges right now and i just want something different. i was thinking about making my own custom pod above the vents.. but im exploring all options. i dont want to fill the vents cause i like my heat/air, so im wondering if anyones ever relocated the radio or air controls to allow gauges in the center counsel.

I know that JasonWW has a write up on how to do it, I like the idea... Im not a fan of pillar guage pods and even less of our hvac controls... id def be willing to give this a try but we need a good place to mount the controls
