Default New 1st Gen Fbody PCM mounting location!

Has anyone mounted their PCM as in the pic? I'm thinking of mounting it here...any reasons not to put it there?

The PCM has been just about mounted anywhere you can think of.. but If you can get it to fit.. go for it.

Only concern I would have would be too much water getting to it and getting caught in a pocket that traps hot air. So, if this is not a issue.. then no issue..

The PCM can take most conditions of heat and water and is water tight (to a point)

Will it actually fit there with the fender installed?

Yup! The only thing that's making me think is the fact that water runs down along the cowl. I'd have to make some sort of umbrella around the top area of the PCM.

The only reason I can think of not to mount it there is that you will not be able to remove it without pulling the fender.

Mine is mounted there, just on the other side or the car. I have Vintage Air so there's no blower motor to worry about. Never been a problem with water or heat or anything, and I've driven it in all kinds of weather for 123,000 miles give or take a few. The only downside is what was said before, I have to pull the inner fender to get it out. Although (knock on wood) I've never had to take it out.

Re'
should hide it pretty good tho! but ya ditto, just consider how important it is to you to have ease of access. plus if you have to drill into the firewall, you might get a little more noise and what not inside the car.

That's not a problem, there's about 8 inches of air space behind it before the actual firewall.

Thanks LS1Nova,
That's gonna be the location! I was hesitant until I read your post. The chances of having to pull the fender to exchange it should be pretty low once it's all done....hopefully.
