I see that you have the motor mounted normally...but don't understand how you made it work for the front wheel drive setup?

my favorite car on here by far man, how did you get the 10 second pass? the new stall and new intake? i put all the numbers in the gear calculator and thats one hell of a first gear pull that must feel insane.
once again sweet car, if its for sale any time let me know haha.

I bought the car running low 12's high 11's. It was full weight, no suspension. It had TEA stage 1 heads and a 218/224 cam. I got the car down to high 10's on motor with just suspension, drivetrain, and weight mods.
Then I put in the ls2 with the stock l92's and a cam and im still working on getting a "good" setup.
I havent seen much gains from different intakes, and different stalls, as much as I have from weight and suspension.
First gear goes to about 85 mph. I really need some different gears for the car. It has 3.73, I want some 4.56's
Thanks for the comments!

I like your car over a lot of others on this site. I don't find too many high dollar builds that interesting unless they're done on a budget. I like your car because you do it all yourself and have done a lot of similar things I have (granted you did them first). I've used a lot of the weight reduction and automatic transmission info you've posted to help me along the way.
I bought my 93 for $900 with a leaking freeze plug and it's turned into a complete redo of the car. So far I've taken 307 lbs out of the car. I'm switching from an LT1 / 4l60 to a LS1 / TH350 / 10 inch converter and stand to loose roughly another 120 lbs. I figure I can get the car to around 2960 with me in it by that time. Eventually, I should be able to get it down to 2650 while still having the AC, PS, all the interior panels, and two seats.
I want it to look relatively stock, be super light, and suprise a lot of people. That's pretty much what your car is and that's why I like it.

yeah i have seen your post with your car(s) as well lol. should be a pretty interesting if you hit the weight goals. I easily have a couple hundred pounds that I can take out still. Just need to spend some money.

I really need a video of my car idling now. I just played with the idle settings in EFI Live the other day and I really turned it into a new car at idle. My 12'' header extensions make it sound pretty good.

hey man im doing this same swap but with a ls3 intake manifold instead, im thinking pretty hard on the g6x3 cam it seems way better than all the rest, any other options out there that are actually decent??

yea i thought you were sticking with the same gmpp intake as your ls2/l92 headed combo haha sorry for the confusion, man i cant wait to get my 6.2 on the road i bet you feel the same way haha, nice build btw
but what i meant to ask was about your cam choice, is lg the best thats out right now for the 6.2? i cant find any other cams custom specd or otherwise that deliver near the power that the g6x3 cams are. any other brands you recomend before i order this cam?

Hey, did you cut your spare tire well, t-top well, and that other useless well? I'm just curious, cause we have a white camaro very similar to yours. We cut the wells out of the rear end, probly lost about 50 #. (that number is off the top of my head) This is what it looks like.

I have not, yet. I would like to. I plan on doing all of that when I do some tubs in the rear. I think Chris Morales in the drag tech section lost about 75-100lbs in the rear from doing tubs and cutting extra metal out.

collasped a lifter. Most of them that came out are pretty weak. You can push the plunger in with ease. They are LS7 lifters with about 5k miles on them and happened at about 7k rpm with no pryor signs of an issue. Also the spings are patriot extremes with about 1k miles on them.
Valve hit the piston and the piston is now no where to be found. Put a hole in the sleeve.
Motor is done for. Pics soon.

Those pictures are pretty brutal. You have the magical disappearing piston. That's an expensive explosion. I had similar results when my stock engine blew up and trashed the whole thing in my Formula.
What are the plans from here?

I found what did my motor in. The vvt oil pump.
Found a spun bearing in the bad cylinder. Looks like I probably sucked the pan dry.
The extra slop in the rod cause it to come up more in the cylinder and hit the valve.
Total damage:
1 broken valve
3 bent valves
1 missing piston
1 piston broken off the rod
2 bent rods
2 cylinder sleeves with chunks missing
cracked block
camshaft scored on a few lobes
both heads need lots of work
windage tray bent
Crank scored up

cool combo! I grenaded my cam only car a couple years ago like that. I never really figured out why it grenaded though, I know the valve head broke off and went piston to head a few times and that caused the piston to bust in a million pieces and fall down into the crankcase and take out a few more rods. The block was completely destroyed, you couldnt even put sleeves in if you wanted to. But the cam/springs/lifters/pushrods were all fine, I even built another motor with them!
+1 for LSX coffee tables!
