I am going to be building my motor very soon for my turbo set up and was wondering which would be better to do. Either o-ring the motor or install the 1/2" ARP head studs! The motor will be a fully forged 347 with patriot stage 2's and I am by no means building a race car but would like to be able to run 20 psi w/out issues!

Everything he said and then in your tune keep the timing in the higher rpm range around 15-16deg.. This will help as well.

I would just run the heads intill they lifted and by then you would probley have enough money saved to get some good heads. The Dart heads have a pretty thick deck and you can get them brand new for under $1500. Theres probley beter heads out there but that price is hard to bet for a head with a thick deck. I ran 20 psi on my AllPro heads, 3/8" Arp studs and 6.0 MLS head gaskets and they NEVER lifted. There a great head but there alittle on the expensive side but worth it...

Wow really. That sucks! I heard they where a 1/2" thick. I know my Allpros where over 3/4" thick. IF a stock head is .250-.300" thick than you would think a dart would make a big difference. Another good option might be a Trickflow Fast as Cast. There suppost to flow really good and have a 5/8" thick deck. You can get them ready to go for $1895.

ETP starts at .800 and then it gets milled to your desired chamber size. Mine are 66cc... .780 thick

Nice. Have you talked to dave lately? I wonder if he got his allpro heads on yet. He said you and him turned the boost up to 12 pounds of so on his truck but it went lean. He said you had it tuned for 12 pounds but it was still was running lean. Did you get it figured out?

I talked to Dave today...prolly do Hooters tomorrow. His All pros are sitting at my house. I THINK i found the prob with his tune.... Truck will fly when it sright. Definitely should run 10s and be in the 1.5s 60'

It doesnt really matter what heads you are going to run and if u O-Ring the heads and use 1/2" Studs...... if your going to push the motor beyound 20 psi u are going to start to push water (ie lift the heads) with any of them when its a 4 bolt setup. Its just something u are going to have to deal with and work on containing the coolant system.

Even some of the 6 Bolt Alum block guys push a lil water still.

Believe me ive been researching this like crazy, esp since im staying 4 bolt for a while....

Hey Kyle, On my last 2 passes before my rod let go I was at 23psi. and pushed no water. We turned the timing down to 15deg. in the higher rpms and that seemed to work very well.

Yeah my last time out i was quite a bit more timing then that.. was at 26 psi and popped a head gasket....

Ask Fireball or mark how much water there pushing.... its some... its controlling it...
Let it push into the over flow.. drain it and add more to the coolant sysytem...

I run over 20* and don't push any at 27 psi.
Add 2* and I'd push a few ounces.
