keyless entry question!! Hey guys, im just a little curious..but how can i find out if my Z came with keyless entry? Im wanting to get an oem key fob, but i wanna make sure my Z had keyless entry first. Also how would you program one?

more like a bottle of jack!! lol! yeah when i bought my car it had some rink-a-dink alarm on it with a key fob, but the thing didnt work. I didnt worry about it too much. But now im tired of unlocking the door with my key. Hopefully i can get it to work again.

FWIW programming is simple, on a 95 IIRC the pins are 4 and 8(then gain that could have been for a 95, i dont remember) but basically there are 2 pins on the obd connector you connect together with a paper clip and you'll hear the power locks lock and then unlock and then you just hit a button on the remote and then hit one on the second remote, then pull out the paper clip. i did this a few months ago on my 95 to add a second remote (got one from a buddy who wrecked a 93 blazer back in 1999 and had 2 remotes sitting on a keyring, i told him he was never gonna use those again and asked him for one since i only had one remote for my car. it doesnt match perfectly since it has a chevy logo and the trunk release shows the back of an suv but it was free and its for my backup set of keys anyway)

There should be a RPO for it, I though. I can't remember how I found out mind had it. Programming it for a 93 is much different though, and it's not as easy as Blacktattop is making it sound. You can't just nab the fob from another vehicle and program it. I got mine off eBay, brand new GM Fob for only like $25. Was still in the bag.
Wish I could provide more info on how to find out if you have it :\ You could try the Stereo and Electronics forum, or even the Camaro one.

here is the programming for a 93-95 (the only difference being the pin numbers since 1995 uses the OBDII connector, it doesn't say anything about there being a difference for 1993 FWIW)

Programming procedure:
Ground the program input line by connecting a fused jumper at the Data Link Connector (DLC) from terminal "G" to terminal "A" (note: use terminal G and A for pre '95 12 pin DLC. A is the top right pin and G is the bottom left. Use terminals 4 and 8 for the '95 16 pin DLC. The 16 pin DLC connector is numbered top left (1) to top right (8) and bottom left (9) to bottom right (16) ). The Receiver will cycle the Door Lock Actuators within one to three seconds to acknowledge that the Receiver is in the "PROGRAM" mode.
Press any button on the Transmitter once. In response, the Receiver will cycle the Door Lock Actuators to acknowledge that a transmission has been received.
Press any button on the second Transmitter once. In response, the Receiver will cycle the Door Lock Actuators to acknowledge that a transmission has been received.

Well, all I know is, that I programed mine MUCH differently. Somewhere on my computer, I saved the procedure, but the one you posted is not it. I did mine via the lock buttons and the key fob. No monkeying with the ALDL port.

hmm maybe there are 2 ways to program 93-95s. i know 96+ you have to pull a fuse and wait a certain amount of time, but mine i just did the paperclip trick (it said ground them together and i didnt have any wire so i figured an unbent paperclip would work, which it did) and pressed one button on remote 1 and one on remote 2, pulled out the paper clip and both remotes worked fine. the only thing they caution you on is to not program 2 cars at the same time at close proximity or else you might end up with a remote that works on both cars, which would actually be kind of cool as long as the cars aren't parked right next to each other when you try to use the remote.

First make sure that the keyless module is still there (behind the passenger kick panel) as when GM installed my GM alarm back in 95 when the car was new, they removed the keyless module as the alarm module did the same. Confused the hell out of me when I went to reprogram it and nothing responded doing the jumper method.

cool no problem. i was kind of suprised how easy it was to program the remotes. i got one remote with my car and i bought it almost 5 years ago, i didn't get the blazer remote until about a month or so ago and thought it would be a PITA to program it until i found that how to on shoebox
