I race a Buick(SP?) with a 3800 motor all worked up everything done to it except a FI kit, It had drag radials on. We were at the light and we go He oulled the first 15 feet I was pulling hard got to about 60MPH and he was at my passenger door around 85 I started pulling really hard and I let off at 115 IDK when he let off

I know the guy so there was no shit talking involved, he ran a 13.2 or 13.1 at the track

That would've almost HAD to be supercharged to keep up like that, without the blower stock they are 205 at the flywheel. I used to have a GTP that was supercharged and it was mild cam, ported blower, smaller pulley, bolt ons ect... and I was about even/slightly infront of a LS1 so I have a hard time believing it was N/A. Good kill though, the supercharged ones can be damn quick.

A built H/C 3.8 could keep up with an LS1 til about the speed he pulled away. I doubt it was supercharged. He was pullin it pretty hard and a H/C S/C is enough to compete with stock or bolt on LS1s.

Yea I also dont think he had a blower, one hell of a cam though lol and also drag radials which help out alot for him

What kind of Buick are you talking about? If it's a Grand National, that time sounds about right for a very lightly modified one, they came stock with a 3.8 turbo'd V6.

I think they are refering to the mid 90's cars. I don't remember the model, but you could get a 3800 with a blower. Same motor as the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP I believe. The one in the story though is N/A.

I was in the Grand Prix world for a while, it's FAR AND FEW BETWEEN that anyone puts ported/worked heads on any model, they're very expensive. Cam selection for N/A isn't the greatest either, most of the N/A guys(who are serious) do M90 swaps or go turbo. If he did do all the N/A work he could, then he did a poor build and could've gotten much more power for the money he spent by going one of the routes I spoke of earlier.

It's a Regal GS that you guys are thinking of, is that the car he had?

yeah i'm sure it was a regal gs, 97-04 they made them. 3.8 with an eaton m90 supercharger. they run a high 14 stock. add some headers, rockers and pulley, and you're running mid 13s. toss in a cam and an intercooler and you got mid to high 12s. i own one and ran 12.5 @110 with intake, headers, cam and intercooler, dyno'd 339 whp. then i gutted the supercharger to make it just an intake manifold and added a turbo kit (pt67) and made 540who and trap 128. they are very strong cars with a lot of potential. i am still on stock heads and stock bottom end.
