I'm on the way to school yesterday and as I am cruising along the highway doing about 60 mph a van (big work van, not your typical econoline) going well below the speed of traffic cuts me off. I react by getting on the brakes and going to the right, i still manage to run into him cracking my bumper, fender and headlight, but luckily managing to not to do any damage that isn't cosmetic to my car.
However, during my evasive manuever i managed to luck up the rear tires on a patch of what felt like gravel and dirt and spun the car twice at 50ish and managed some how to recover and end up pointing in teh right right direction thanks to some quick reactions. So as soon as i had the car under control i didn't even bother stopped and started chasing down the guy managing to catch him and signalling for him to pull over he slows down gets behind me and then as soon as im getting into the emergency lane and im just past the point that i';d have to back up to take the exit he cuts accross the divider and goes onto the off ramp... After that i never saw the guy again!
Regardless, I'm fine, albeit not happy, but fine and the car isn't in too horrible of a shape.

If anyone finds a white ford van with a yellow bumper with some sort of pump on the back please feel free to give him his well earned beat-down.

WHY DIDN'T YOU GET TAG NUMBER? he would have been really screwed then; hit and run, fleeing the scene, etc.

Definetely sucks.
My guess is no insurance.
That would be my guess, too. And has nothing to do with what brand of van he was driving.

Had a similar thing happen to me over the summer. Delivery truck merged into me and pushed me into the median on the highway doing 65-70... needless to say he didn't stop and my car was totaled (just my beater thank god). So I feel your pain man. Glad you're ok.

I'm sure he had no insurance, hell, i'd be surprised if he was even had a license. I would have snagged the tag but I didn't have the chance to during all the drama. I was a little shaken from going backwards and forwards and backwards again and finally forward one last time on a VERY busy 5 lane stretch of highway.
i def would have pulled some illegal shit busting off the highway to get him and wouldn't have stopped until i had the plate or the cops had him pulled over

I got hit n run by some asshole in a 80's Lincoln a couple of years ago, they nailed me pulling out of a Gas Station, and I went into a spin, pulled it out of the spin, and the right rear quarter that they hit got finished off by a Telephone Pole. I was very lucky to walk-away from it, and I almost actually ended up in a Rally's. There was a little hill there that I ramped off of after making contact with the Pole, and I literally landed in the parking lot and skidded to a stop about 4 ft from the front door of the Rally's. Scared the shit out of the girl walking out the Door at the time, I'm very thankful that I didn't hit her.
Needless to say I was fckn pissed..the douche took off up the highway.

thats at least 2 or 3 grand worth of damage to your car. If you report it, your insurance is prolly going to go up, since there is no proof it was due to another guy. lesson learned is, always get the tag!

Miami? Yeah probably got hit by a illegal. That sucks, I'd file a police report or something. It was still a hit and run regardless.

I'm not gonna bother with a police report or claiming it to the unsurance. Just gonna hike up my rates, i'll be damned if the police down here do anything right.
Good thing you're not in 'Cali-even though you were cut off by the van the laws here would say that YOU were at fault...

But yea, good thing you didn't end up getting hit my someone else why you were spinning. You could probably fix that for $500 or so if you do your own work...

If you have uninsured motorist claim it. Its a pretty cheap deductable and it will not raise your insurance rate. I got backed into by some crack whore with a brand new Dodge 1500 pick up. How do you have a brand new 08 pickup with no insurance. Called the cops and they didn't do shit, no drivers license, no insurance, drugs in vehicle. Cop says "you have uninsured motorist?", me "um yea i actually just bought my car last week and put insurance on it yesterday!!". The crack whore and the guy tried to pay me $125 to flee the scene but when they seen I had my custom 300 Remington ultra mag in the back they did not go anywhere. Needless to say the cop didn't do dick, I got fucked over and lost 2 hours out of my day, and the crack whore was free to roam the streets again. Oh ya the bitch said "I didn't see you, what are you doing there?", me "No shit bitch you didnt see me thats why you just ran me over." Sorry I had to go off, I was very angry that day.

Okay buddy, you start hauling ass in heavy traffic with a car that was just crashed. Have fun when you realize your steering may not be right or you have a hood pop open in your face. Hell, have fun explaining to the cop when you crash into someone else why you where going over a buck in a 50 with heavy heavy traffic.
Not only that, lets say you do pull him down whats keeping me, an unarmed 20 year old kid, getting shot by some dirt bag who doesn't have anything to lose.
I chased after him a bit, but there is a certain line you must draw before it becomes completely wreckless and stupid. I have an LS1, i know how to use it, by the sounds of it you are the one who needs to learn something!
that totally blows man hope you can get it fixed the cops down here in VA usuallly slap the the guy who rear ended someone the ticket "following to close" dumb law

Man, that sucks, Cali laws SUCK unless your a serious smoker.
In FL you are at fault too.. If you hit someone in the rear unless they are pulling out of an intersection with a stop sign then they can be cited for obstructing your right of way, but thats only if the crash happened right by the intersection.

I seriously would've lost it. I went ape sh*t on some woman who rear ended me going about 20 mph coming up to the STOP light i was sitting at. I guess my brake lights weren't bright enough. All she could say is, "are you all right?". "Yea I'm fine hooker, how are your brakes? Use 'em next time." The cops actually showed up pretty quick to that one though so I was pretty impressed. If she tried to run, you better believe there would've been some Smokey and the Bandit action going on in downtown Austin Texas.
