Default Crank Position sensor learn wont work, rough idle then stalls

I have been attempting to do the crankshaft learn on my 93 RX7 LS1 so it can detect a misfire. But as soon as I start the procedure. The scan tool says rev to wot and let off without passing 4,000rpm. I do this and as soon as I let off the engine idles roughly and stalls out. As soon as I leave the test the car runs and idles fine. I was told the engine was a 2000. But the crankshaft learn only comes up in the special tests section in 99 and 2001 Camaros in the scan tool. Can anyone tell me with digit in the vin stands for the year of the car. Even if I hold the engine at 1,000rpm after I do the WOT rev. The test wont go to the next step it is just waiting for the first step to complete. Any advice?

Tenth digit in the VIN is the year.
BTW, you don't need the crank relearn for misfire detection. Set the code to no error reported, and your misfire detection will work.
Misfire detection is only inhibited if the code is set
