Default pcm retrofit? 95 s10.

this is kind of an odd question and maybe better suited for the conversions forum even though its technicaly not. but my buddy and i are embarqing on a little poject in a 95 s10. we are doig a forged 4.3 with a turbo. however the 95 motor is a tbi which we want to get rid of and use a single plane with an elbow. soooo we will need to control 6 injectors and whatever tb functions may be needed. we will also need to run a 2 or 3 bar map. none of this seems possible on the 95 pcm so we are thnking or switch to a 99+ pcm. anyone done this? how did you go about wiring it up? or would aftermarket be that much better?-we would like to avoid that for cost reasons as this is just a daily driver we are trying to have some fun with.

You could run a megasquirt. To use the new pcm you will need a crank trigger and the new style distributor with the cam sensor.

newer S10's ie, 2002's run the same as a 99+ LSx pcm, so that is what I would swap in, They even run the same 12212156 OS as 2002 f-cars.

If there are no control problems with the engine, it has the basic hardware needed you could easily put a 2002 PCM in a S10.

I put a 2002 PCM into a 97 Blazer and it wasn't that bad. Most of the wires were there in the correct colors. Some unused wires I converted over to carry functions of the new PCM. A 2002 engine was put into the car so I didn't have to worry about reluxors, speed sensors, or anything else not matching up.

see thats more or less what i am concerned with. we are using the 95 motor and just building it. if we got into a motor swap we may as well just do an ls1. what did you do just get the wiring diagrams for both years and start moving them thru the harness? this seems like its going to be a bitch.

Had to get the wiring diagrams for both years and also the 2002 has a slightly different wiring layout.

It has a fuse box outside in the engine bay. So fuses were out out in the engine bay.

Keep the fuses around the glove box.

I am sure that it will take a couple of days.

Now, I have heard that the 350 Vortec is an almost direct fit but you have to go to electric fans. The LS1 needs more work to fit.
