I'm struck with a dilemma. I want to lower my car; It looks like a 4x4.

My only problem is, is that I have SLP LT headers & catted Y. They sit super close to the ground.

Has it been done before with SLP LT's? Are there any pictures?

What is the average drop that I would get in the front?

Yes, I have scraped a couple times with stock springs. Nothing major, but yes, it's happened.

my car is slammed with LTs, just gotta watch it over big speedbumps. other than that, no issues - i can still get in and out of really steep driveways with no problems (all about the angle)

I run Hooker headers with the G2 Super Springs and it can be a problem over big speedbumps. Some areas I have to stay away from because there is no way the car is going to make it.

To get rid of the 4 x 4 look you will have to compromise with the clearance crap. Especially with the SLP LTHs which run lower to the ground than most if not all LTHs out there.

I understand that I'll have to make a sacrifice by dropping the car, but I'm wondering if it's actually possible to do?

Or will the headers / Y literally scrape every little bump.

If (for example) the car has a 1.5" drop, is that the height at the wheel well? Does this mean the whole car will be 1.5" lower?

the whole car will sit 1.5 lower so that means, from looking at your picture, you will have like .5" clearance. your going to have to get some diff LTS or a new y with better fitment or you cant lower your car

You aren't lowering that car with those longtubes.

I drive on the same roads you have and basically a lot of driveways and malls with speed bumps become places you CAN'T drive on. Also unlike my car, you will be scraping the longtubes which since directly connected to the engine will wreak havoc on your motor mounts if you do scrape. You run the risk of lifting the whole drivetrain each bump you scrape.

Basically, you are looking at spending on some better headers first or leaving it stock height. I've noticed there are a lot of old style driveways with ridiculous angles which if not done just right will have your car scraping nose or litterally on the crest of something that basically has your car teetering on a speed bump. Dunno how you get over these spots as I've scrapped them...

Unfortunately, that wasn't the answer I wanted to hear, although I am not surprised.

Also, it is not my DD, and I avoid speedbumps / steep driveways / parking garages etc.

A previous car of mine w/LG G2 springs, SLP LTs and true duals. If you do have bad roads I wouldnt suggest lowering with the SLPs, even with good roads I had to be careful. And forget about speed bumps!

Well im lowered about 1.75 inches on adj coil overs..
But I have plenty of room.. mine are Kooks LT's and Y though..
I have about 4-5 inches of clearence from the lowest part

Well, you know the little mounds of asphalt that are sometimes in the middle of a travel lane (extra I guess), with skinnies I'd scrape on those. With the wheels and tires in the pic there was maybe 1 1/4" clearance at the lowest point.

Good to know, but from the sounds of it, my headers hang far lower than yours. I have roughly 2" of clearance right now...and it's at stock height.

Great looking car. but with only 2" of clearance .. even with a 1" drop which is hard your gonna be dragging your exhaust around town !..

With the way the roads are here, those headers will end up with a lot of dings in them within a week's worth of driving. Heck, I know you visit Carleton from time to time, the pedestrian crossings would pretty much be a no go if you did a 1 inch drop...

I think you should stick with stock springs. Nothing hides the fact that the SLP LT's are that low. You can try it, if you don't mind scraping, but I'll bet you'll occasionally bottom out just driving on some normal bumpy roads. Seems like a big holdback from what you want to do with the car... I think eventually you should swap the headers out and then lower the car as much as you want to.

I know it's not the answer you wanted to hear... but it will be better for you in the long run.
