Default Question about Fuel pump sock

I was just wondering about the position of the fuel pump filter sock when it gets reinstalled into the pump assembly. I got the walbro direct fit kit and when i put everything back together, the sock gets slightly folded and pushed up against the inside the pump bucket. Is this the way it's supposed to be?? I looked at the sticky for the walbro pump install and it shows the bottom of the pump sticking out of the bottom of the pump bucket where the filter can connect to it. I'm assuming this is not the direct fit kit because of this modification that was made. My car still doesn't drive correctly and i'm getting the fuel pressure checked again on thursday to see if its an issue from the tank to the fuel rail.

It will be bent slightly on the inside of the bucket.
