Default Well, My engine is SCREWED!

As some of you guys may have seen, I had a post up last week about my car not maintining oil pressure. Well, yesterday while I was driving home my car started ticking quite rapidly. A couple minutes after that, something happened and my engine sounded like something snapped and was knocking around inside my motor. The knocking was extremely loud and was definately coming from the internals. Luckily I was close to home and just made it. I have a pretty good feeling that my motor was about to sieze up . Do you guys have any idea what could be going on. I'm going crazy over here. Please help me out here!

Thanks,

Vince

drain the oil and look for parts.....

might even consider dropping the crossmember and dropping the pan so you can see what you got...or dont got....pull off the intake...and heads and look inside....

sounds like time for a new motor...but maybe you can rebuild...

...don't drive/start this pup anymore since you may be able to salvage the block, heads, crankshaft, and some other important stuff...

Sorry - but you can't say I did not warn you...I said, "do not drive this car and change the oil pump NOW!!!!"

...actually, when I told my Chevy dealer I had no oil pressure he said; that's OK just keep driving it till it dies...GM will buy you a new engine...

This is the same dealer that laughs at dumb people who buy new head bolts, however...

At the time, the car was close to the warranty "dead" date so I ended up changing the oil pump...

I know, I know! I did'nt want to drive it, but it was my only source of transportation. I have to go to school and work everyday. I still had oil pressure, but not a whole hell of a lot. It was sitting a little over 20 psi. I know I have plenty of oil still, because I just checked it. I've been waiting on my oil pump, that's the reason why I haven't fixed it yet. Is there a shop that I can take it to that can tell me what the problem is, because I sure as hell can't take it to a dealership. They won't get near my car with the all the aftermarket on it.

Don't drive it to that shop, have it towed! A $50 tow or a new block? you tell me what's cheaper.

Hell man, you could have rented a car or took a taxi to work/school and guess what, it still would have been cheaper.

Good luck with the rebuild, it might be worth it to sell all the aftermarket on the car, return it to stock, and beg GM to fix it, even tho this IS your fault and I do not agree with it, I have a feeling you don't have much $ to fix your car sorry

HyperBlackZ I have a question for you. Do you in fact have a way to pay for the vehicle to get repaired once it is at a shop? Do you have full coverage insurance? If so I'd suggest having it toed through your insurance to RPM Motorsports in Lewisville. Do not take it to a shop in Arlington that specializes in LS1's!!!! I can't stress that enough. If you need assistance I may be able to help. E-mail me I'm in Arlington.

Thanks for the advice. Do you have RPM Motorsports phone #. I've heard they do pretty good work over there. The only thing that really sucks is that my insurance will only cover towing up to 10 miles and after that I have to pay for each extra mile.

How about renting a U-Haul truck with a towing bar? Maybe RPM will flip the bill if they fix it.

Yes, please do tell. Would this be AMS?

A local guy mentioned getting screwed by them, unfortunately they were a sponsor on the "other" board. They aren't here though
