Default Brand New Racetronix Hotwire Kit and A Toasted Pump

Well i installed the racetronix hotwire kit on my car a couple days ago and now the pump is burned up. Any ideas what could've happened? When i dropped the tank there was already a walbro 255 in there, but i still replaced it with the new one. The only thing was it didn't have a bucket in there when i got to it, so i just installed it with out one could this have caused it? I followed the directions to the t.

I thought the bucket helped retain fuel around the pump? Might be wrong there, but the pump will burn up if no fuel, its what cools the pump.

I just installed my walbro a few weeks ago and I'm questioning whether or not I should have put the bucket back in too !

From what I've read and done at work I'd put the bucket back on. Do a search on here and you'll find that almost all put the bucket back in.

only reason i didn't put it back is cause the new sock wouldn't fit on the bucket. I have seen many f-bods install the pump without it ! I guess I will research a bit more.

Well correction the pump is good. I bench tested it today and it works fine. So i've got a wiring problem somewhere.

It always pays to use the racetronix set then the Walbaro in my experiance. the racetronix setup fits like a glove and the others are semi good IMHO

Didn't it come with a plug-n-play harness?

well i did some trouble shooting and it was the pump relay should've checked there first instead of dropping the tank first.

it would be much easier if u did the trap door . When I put my pump in the wiring on the top of bucket was screwed up so I had to pull the fp ...it took less than five minutes to do ! Highly recommend it !

On the fuel bucket subject I had a Holly 255 (very same thing as a Walbro/made w/ the same parts) that went out only after a year of sporatic driving. It did not have the bucket installed.
The bucket is to keep the pump submerged regardless of the level of fuel in the tank.
