Ok so I went to class this morning, rolled down my window to grab a ticket to park, and went to roll it up and there was a pop along with a short of all the electronics in my car for a split second. The power surge subsided, everything went back on, both windows won't go up and down. I checked all the fuses, they are all good. I took out the cluster on the driver side and the dude who owned it before me obviously didn't know how to solder wire and was a retard, leaving the plate that holds the wires into place out of the mix. It looked like the dark blue wire came in contact with another wire, causing the short. The motors have been fine, working great, switches worked great. Now nothing works. I took off my driver side window switch and asked a random guy with a TA if I could see if it worked on his car. My car is a 2000 Trans Am his was a 97, almost certain the electrical as far as window motors go is universal from 93-02 though. The driver side down worked, the up did not work, the passenger side worked. But when it's plugged in on my car, nothing works... So I don't understand what is going on. I don't know why it would work on another car and not my car? Could the surge have fried both window motors AND switches? Any suggestions? Thanks for your time guys.

Jeff

its possible thats what happened crossed wires are never good theres multiple things that could have happened......why dont you try jumping the power window motors to see if there fried? the n go from there..........if your window switches and motors are fine and they still dont work......your in some shit to say the least

not really related but my mustangs mach system shorted out because of a bad wire and it fried both stock amps the rear speakers and the worst of it was the wiring was trashed....i had to redo it all just an example of how serious 1 small short can be

good luck man i hope its your motors/switches

STOP!! Thats not your problem!!!

Its the BCM ... do a search on BCM, if you know how to solder you can fix it.

There is a VERY good writeup about fixing your BCM.

Your radio does not work as well, correct? Mine does this, but cuts right back on, sometimes it does not... but most times it just Pops, then comes back either by itself, or almost always when I restart the car.

If this is not your problem, and it is something Deeper.. sorry for the .. STOP!! haha, good luck man.
