Ok so I went to class this morning, rolled down my window to grab a ticket to park, and went to roll it up and there was a pop along with a short of all the electronics in my car for a split second. The power surge subsided, everything went back on, both windows won't go up and down. I checked all the fuses, they are all good. I took out the cluster on the driver side and the dude who owned it before me obviously didn't know how to solder wire and was a retard, leaving the plate that holds the wires into place out of the mix. It looked like the dark blue wire came in contact with another wire, causing the short. The motors have been fine, working great, switches worked great. Now nothing works. I took off my driver side window switch and asked a random guy with a TA if I could see if it worked on his car. My car is a 2000 Trans Am his was a 97, almost certain the electrical as far as window motors go is universal from 93-02 though. The driver side down worked, the up did not work, the passenger side worked. But when it's plugged in on my car, nothing works... So I don't understand what is going on. I don't know why it would work on another car and not my car? Could the surge have fried both window motors AND switches? Any suggestions? Thanks for your time guys.
