Serves him right for 65 in a 30. Thats residential. Its a class B misdemeanor. Same as a first offense DWI.

i have a friend that went to jail for it also, he has to pay about $5000, and loose his liscence for i think a year, you can get defered thats what that is, if you dont get defered you are looking at some big time fines

I got arrested for racing. Went to jail, car impounded, and i think it was a class B. Anyways i got a lawyer ASAP and it got dropped to a wreckless driving charge. Basically license gone for 6 months some fines and that was that. Paid about 150-200$ to get car out of impound.

All in all i think i paid around 2500$ for fines, impound, and lawyer.

Gate Fee: $15

Cost for Street Racing: $2500-$5000+

Cost if someone was killed: $Endless

No telling what he should expect - It really depends on the people he is dealing with and if they have a personal experience or not.

Mason does have some deserted parts... and there are some parts that are busy with driveways everywhere. 30 is too low for all of Mason IMO... but racing and 65 is just stupid there.

Personally I speed everywhere except 30 and 35 zones just to be safe. Plus I have noticed alot of cops are staying off major roads now and work the 30 mph zones more so it works out in the end.

How old is your friend and what kind of car did he have ?

LOL..welcome to judge Yeomans court! Your friend quite possibly picked one of the worst places to get popped. You could have only done worse in old spring...

Personally I speed everywhere

I think that is the case for most of us - But speeding and racing are two very different things.

Next time street race at the K-Mart on Westheimer...so you can get paid 10 grand. Wish I'd have been there that night...I was up at Post Oak and Westheimer that night. I'd have gladly stayed a night in HCJ for that much coin.

Are you talking about that time when like all of houston police swarmed in on the racing meet they had there and arrested everyone, even spectators? It was all over the news etc...

Yeah, that was a long-ass time ago...like '01-'02.

There were definitely some street racers there and some who were meeting there to go race, and they certainly deserved to be busted. But most people they nabbed weren't involved in any illegal racing...people like me that just met up to shoot the shit and swordfight over the car chicks.

You got $10K from that bust?

No....I wasn't there, but they settled the court case recently and the City had to pay like a million in damages to people wrongfully arrested.

Yeah your friend needs to be more careful on mason rd. Not a good place to race. i should know. Back in 2000, I had a 1999 Dodge Dakota 5.9L R/T and was racing down Mason Rd. I t-boned this lady almost killed her. Alot of headache and heartache. Not worth it. If you race, go on I-10 or feeder by Cinemark.

This happened to me about 3 or 4 years ago and all I got was one night in jail and 1500 in fines and 6 months probation. IMO it wasn't that bad but that's just me
