I don't think mine fits Extravagant, but it's wasn't low budget either? One day when my daughters are out of college I'll be able to afford better heads and a larger blower and reach my goal of 750 HP. Which is why I used upgraded parts. Right now I'm at 500HP with the P600B blower is maxed out on boost and RPMs!

It's actaully a 385 CI stroker, 9:2 compress ( for boost)

Callies light weight stealth crank, and sprayed caps

Manley pro series rods

JE pistons. JE didn't have off the shelf pistons for the 6" rod .40 with inverted dome, so they were custom ordered. ( maybe that makes it extravagant?).

LT1 heads, done by GTP (stage 3)

Also all the support stuff, commetic gaskets, all ARP bolts, Canton Pan, double roller/elec WP, vented opti swap , yada yada yada.

All in all still a pretty big chunk of change.

I dont know about extravagent, but it was sure as hell expensive! OK, here is my list:

Callies Stealth forged 3.875 crank
Pro Gram 4 bolt straight billet cap conversion (Corvette block)
Manley Billet rods
J&E custom 4.010 forged pistons, skirts coated
Clevite bearings, all coated
Childs and Albert rings
AFR 210's fullly ported, Jesel SS shafts, Jesel pushrods, Morel lifters
Custom grind Comp Cam, small base circle, billet core.
Ported LT4 intake, runners welded and epoxied. Now replaced by World Products Motown single plane, Wilson elbow, NW 90MM TB.
God knows what else.

Sounds like some nasty builds..Any track times, or dyno #'s?

My 383 Project:
(copied from my Cardomain page)

With the 355 project a failure, we took the lessons-learned and
embarked on a slightly more aggressive 383 project.

My goals remain to build a setup that will perform, last for years and not require frequent maintenance.
A true "street car" that can handle summer daily commutes or road trips and still turn heads at the track.
Certainly not a daily driver and nothing I would dare drive in the snow, but not a garage queen either.

I initially toyed with the idea of buying a complete 383 shortblock from VRE, I decided that I
could probably have it done locally cheaper, faster and have more control over the build.
Having "control" worked out well and I was able to make changes to my initial plans without
causing myself too many headaches. I was also able to visit the shop and talk to the machinists
one-on-one to determine what worked best and why. I don't regret the decision at all.
K&M has a great reputation.

I often refer to Bret, Lloyd and Ed as my "three wise men"
They've never let me down when it comes to getting factual and accurate answers to my questions.
My notebook of "great advice" collected over the years is heavily laden with notes from those three.

I tuned to Bret Bauer at Bauer Racing for the rotating assembly and custom cam.
Bret is a very sharp guy and he was able to help me determine exactly what I needed
(and what I didn't). He also provided plenty of answers throughout the build.
Had I gone at it alone, I'd have made several poor decisions and never known it.
Everything from proper quench and compression ratio, to making sure the block and bottom end
would handle the load we would later generate. Bret is one of the most open and honest people
I've ever had the opportunity to do business with, Bret doesn't sugarcoat anything, which is exactly
what I needed.

Lloyd Elliott at Elliott's Portworks has always done fantastic work, this project was no
different. Lloyd suggested the Dart 180cc castings and a quality valvetrain to meet my needs.
He completed the portwork and had the heads back to me in no time at all. Customer service at
Elliot's Portworks is nothing short of amazing, he provided responses to countless emails
(sometimes several in a single day) and questions.

Ed Wright at Fastchip.com provided me with a baseline tune that will allow us to start the car
and complete out basic testing and break-in prior to making the trip to Tulsa for final dyno-tuning
in his shop. Ed has considerable experience with extreme LT1 builds, he's taken of tuning my
oddball projects for years, I wouldn't have it any other way.

I gathered most of my components from Jeg's and Summit Racing.
Both sites are well-designed and make it easy to find exactly what I need when I need it.
I've been a customer for many years.

Looks like you are headed the right direction James! I have worked with all those names and never been let down!

I am realy just getting ready to start my "extrazagant" LTx build. It takes a little to step up to the plate with the LSx crowd so you have to at least TRY to match there valve angle...and thus I have started that direction

The heads ship out tomorrow to some one good with those castings and the small LTx bore to have the ports configured and LTx mod's made

I also need to get with Dave(nitro) and get the Hogans intake redone with new fuel rails and then get new headers made

Hmmm, maybe I should start a "hardcore build" thread LOL
When you start screwing with casting geometry, you are into a whole new world IMHO.
Might as well convert some SBC or professional racing head casting at that point.

Can't wait to see how it does

Well we Lloyd DID move the intake ports on the heads I have now They are stock castings though

I am starting with Brodix 18* castings and the Hogans intake I have had forever. Modified to fit LTx Blocks and small bores

I've had one problem after the next with this car. I've only owned it a year so far. Right now I'm waiting on my heads to get out of the machine shop. My valve guides were wore out and it needed a couple of valves too. I'm hoping to crack the 400 mark. Hopefully I will have it on the dyno in the next couple of weeks. It might dip into the high 12s on the perfect night with a good 60.

I have no complaints. I told him what I wanted and he did the work and installed the parts required.

Honestly, I've had my heads sitting next to two other porters heads, Only thing I've noticed is how much material some take off around the valve guides compaired to others. The porting in the runners and chambers all look about the same to me, just different how the porters make the turn to the valves?

My ET/MPH are odd because the P600B just can't keep the engine proerppoer fed. I'm loosing when I cross the finish line.

But off a soft launch I went 12.4 @ 124MPH.

BTW, The short block is currently begin redone, spun the 3 center main bearings! This engine only had a few hund. miles on it and 5 passes when it spun the bearings! Crank was saved, this shop is going to machine another set of caps.
