Default How high so you spin your LT1?

I have heard that these motors don't like to spin high rpms and I was wondering what you guys usually shift at? What do you consider safe? Personally, I shift at 5k on the stock tach., which in reality is like 4700, but I shift there because I don't feel it makes any power after there.

I shifted the stocker around 5400-5600. I'd guess 5400 would be showing on the autometer and yeah the stock tach would be reading around 5600.

With the stock motor I had 1.6 RR and some comp springs, full exhaust, 4.10's etc. I got a dyno sheet here showing the thing still making decent power all the way bounced off the limiter.

I don't think it should feel like power is dropping off at 4700, in my case I occasionally hit the limiter if I ignored the shift light cause as the dyno showed me, it was still pulling good. You may have issues if it feel like its dying off at 4700? Not sure.

^LMAO, dang.

I think that it is more of the fact that I am afraid of the motor cause I thought that they were very weak and I didn't want to spin it too high.

EDIT: What is the stock rev limiter?

Clearly the exception and not the rule IMHO.

59-6000 on the tach seems to make the most power & best ET for mine, 54-5500 it'll loose a good .2 tenths, this is with bolt-ons only, stock rockers too.

Usually shift at 6000-6100 but goes through the traps at 6400-6500 on a 95,000 stock bottom end.

Limiter is set at 6500 rpm on the stock short block.

I shift at about 6200-6300 rpm.
