Default Are there any 6 Speed STS/Rear Mount Turbos in the 9's?

As the title says, I am wondering if anyone with a rear mount turbo setup and a 6 speed has gotten into the 9's. I heard one Vette with a built 427 and STS twins has gone 10.1, but anyone in the 9's yet?

Its much harder to do in a 6 speed but it can be done. You will need to upgrade most of the car to get to that level. At the very minimum, a built motor with a lower compression than 10.1 (unless it's with a fuel other than 93 octane), the more cubes you displace the less boost you'll need to break 9's, built t56, built IRS with very sticky tires, A clutch capable of over 750rwhp, at least a 76mm or maybe even a 80mm turbo, complete fuel system upgrade, divine assistance while launching and shifting wouldn't hurt either. Check out Zombies threads for STS turbo kit idea builds to see what works and what doesn't, although it's not a GTO or 6-speed, it will give you a good idea of all the things you will need to reach your 9 second goal.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not really looking to find out if it can be done or what is needed, just want to know if anyone has done it yet, as I havent heard of anyone doing it. I know it will happen soon, very soon

LOL! Funny part is is wasn't even trying. Your car looks strong, I'm hoping to get somewhere close to that with a '98 T/A forged 347, built 4l60, cam and rear mount 67 on high boost and low compression. I might need a small shot or upgrade the turbo since it feels like I'm getting close to maxing it out at just 13lbs. I love the quick spool though.

umm... ill be running 12psi... not in the 9's tho... or 10's.. Yet. 9's is my goal in the next year with the 6-speed. Rearend, suspension, brakes and weight reduction this winter, maybe motor. well see where the money is.

9's is a long shot with a gt67 as it will run out of steam up top.
nothing another gt67(twins)and 96lb injectors/fuel system won't fix. good luck with the project!

Oh yeah get rid of that 67 at least get a 70 or a 76. Zombie is so close to 9's with a huge turbo out back I belive its a st80 not sure tho but hell on a prep track and better air he would hit 9's. Spool is not to bad for me i see 12 psi around 3,8k on a six speed I with 3.73 gears. But u on the auto with a 2.73 or 3.08 gear will out spool me big time.

Yeah, I want to get rid of the 67 but I need to lower my compression a little more first to safely raise the boost. If I don't lower my compression, having a bigger turbo would do little for me since I am tuned for 93 octane. I've had my eye on the 76 for quite some time now. 9's is definitely a long shot for a 67, but if I can pull a high 10 with this set-up, I have a nitrous kit that I am not afraid to test out on this built motor. I really wanted to do it all boost but like you say, it WILL require a bigger turbo. Regardless, I have a good feeling that with a 75-100 shot, I could be the first rear mount 67 fbody to break 9's.

Your going to over spin that 67 with that no2. Your intake temps may get alittle scary even with the no2.
