just installed a new flexplate and new torque converter after installing all the bolts the for the torque converter its seem like the torque converter is out to far check out the pictures let me know or is there a way to measure ?

YES!! it looks too far out. it didnt slide on the transmission pump. the last half inch or so is always the hardest and takes a minute or two to finally slide in. you need to keep on spinning the converter while pushing in. it will eventually slide on.

the pads of the converter should be about 1in from the face of the bellhousing on the trans. how much gap is there between the converter pads and the flywhweel? hopefully you can still spin the converter like that. otherwise you may have damaged something while bolting it down. you might have to lower it down to be able to fully seat the converter

Put the Convertor on the Input Shaft and slowly spin it around while pushing it on and lifting on the bottom a little bit, and you will feel it lock in.

it was all the way in before i installed the tc bolts it pulled the tc out do i need some spacers or something ??

Once you get the Tranny in the Car, if the Convertor is in the correct position, you should be able to spin it very easily, and it will come out of the Transmission about 3/16"-1/4" to be flush with the Flexplate.

like 'the merv"' said, you want a gap of about 1/8th+- in between the pads of the converter and the flyhweel. you HAVE to measure the distance. very important otherwise you will screw something up.


from your PM, if it moved it out that far something isnt right. unbolt the converter and try it again and measure before you bolt it up again

ok that doesnt look as bad from those pictures. just measure the space in between the pad and the flywheel and put a washer or two between there if the gap is more then a 1/8th inch.

If you put it in and was able to spin convertor with trans bolted to motor then it should be fine. smaller convertor you are going to have a gap.

looks like it has about the same gap as when it was in my car. did you measure the gap? what flexplate are you using? and check that the weight is facing the oilpan on the flexplate. looks like it is facing the converter?

loooks fine to me...it should sit about 1-1/25 inches inside the bellhousing fully seated....then pull it about 1/8-1/4 to bolt to the flywheel
