Default 4th Gen F-body Steering Shaft dimensions??

I wasn't sure where to put this, feel free to move it.

My 1994 Camaro project ran into some obstacles. One being the steering system. I had to move the steering rack 1 1/4" forward and slightly to the drivers side.

I currently have both the LT1 and LS1 steering coupler/shaft and neither work. The LT1 shaft has a collapsable joint and I was able to get the 1 1/4" I needed out of it. However, the shaft still contacts the headers of my BBC.

So I am looking for the dimensions of the OEM shaft and u-joints themselves so I can build my own shaft with 2 u-joints, a shaft, and a support bearing on the frame rail (away from header).

I mic'ed it the OEM shaft and the u-joint connecting to the steering column is 0.950". Is this similar to the aftermarket 1" DD size u-joint? The u-joint connecting to the rack-n-pinion is 0.650". Is this the 3/4" DD aftermarket?

Has anyone built their own steering shaft?

This is one of the last problems I have to overcome with the car. Any help is much appreciated.

I know it's super old, but did you ever figure it out? I'm kinda in the same situation. Thanks
