Hey guys, I know there's alot of these threads but I need your opinions on the new models that are out. My BFG g-Force drag radials that I bought with the car keep losing traction from a stop, and their getting kinda bald. I'm gonna ask for a pair of tires for christmas.. But I don't know what I should get.

In the 5 months i've owned this car I only drove it maybe twice in the rain, I try to keep it in the driveway if it's raining out. Now what should I look at,
275/40/17's...

Mickey Thompson ET Streets
BFG g-Forces
Nitto 555r's
Anything else?

I just need opinions on these tires for a car that gets out a lot. I wouldn't call it a daily driver as I don't have my full license yet, but it's close to that.

its kind of give or take....traction or daily driving durability.

MT ET streets are cheater slicks....do you mean ET street radials? If you don't drive on the tires everyday, ET street radials will be your best bet. I've went through two sets and am pretty happy with them. Drive on them to the track, race and drive back home. Just be careful in the rain....they work if your cautious....but when they wear down watch out!!!

Nitto/BFG DR's dont have as near the traction as MT's....but they will last longer. (Nitto's will last the longest)

That's what I run, car sees about 2 K a year, never rain or snow.. Awesome traction!!

You live in NY the last thing you want to do is put drag radials on and get caught in any type of snow. Ask me how I know. The car will be an absolute death trap. Not to mention the nittos say don't use below 32 degrees or sidewall damage will occur. Wait untill the summer if its you DD.

I don't have much experience in the radial topic and I'm kind of in the same boat as you. Have you looked at the Nitto NT01? I believe it's what they're called. They look to have a more agressive tread (or lack there of) pattern than the 555rs.

Trust me I would never, ever drive this car in the snow lol. I don't think 400+RWHP would be good haha. But you never know I guess. How are the MT's in the rain? Obviously if it were pouring I wouldn't say, hey lets take the bird. But if I get caught in the rain. I'd have to be careful regardless but am I gonna be all over the place?

I've driven 3 fbodys with each of the tires mentioned, I never did burnout's or powerslides, only warm up tires with a small burnout at the track days, here is how I see it:

MT= The best traction/wear out the fastest/would never use in the rain, maybe 3K of use before useless

BFgoodrich D.R.= A good compromise between MT and Nitto/ Takes longer to wear out than MT's/ Hook better than Nitto's/ About 6K of use before useless

Nitto D.R.= Longest lasting drag radial period/ Perform well in the rain/ Does not hook as good as BFgoodrich or MT/ About 10K of use before useless

In a nutshell, Nitto's are the friendliest daily drivable drag radials. If more traction is required, then BF and MT are the next choices but be prepared to sacrifice more: higher tire wear rate and compromised driving in bad weather are just some of the inconveniences that come with DD on drag radials.

I have always run the BFG's and they have always worked well for me. I have had a best 60ft. of 1.58 on them and they usually last about 5,000 miles. I just had some new M/T put on last week due to the BFG's being on backorder.
