New P.B. But not what i was hoping for!!
Thought it was gonna stay cool today like in the mid to lower 60 with a fairly good barameter 30.25 when we left for the track. After we got there i walked down to the starting line before any action started and my shoes were pulling OFF my feet, needles to say i jumped into the car and was first in the lanes.First pass 10.57 at 124.33 with a new best 60 of 1.3840 first time in the 30s.Went right back around made annother hit and BAM 10.55 at 124.89 on a 1.3792 60 ft even better. Not bad for fighting a 10-15 mph head wind, with temps already 70 degrees,so i parked the car and let it cool for an hour.It was getting a little warmer out so i put in the light weight driver mod,my son CHRSS1313 35lbs less, for a last pass . He ran a 10.53 at 125.42 on a 1.3910 60 ft. I did not run faster than my 10.52 ,but it really hung the front tires on all of the runs, with my 60 fts in the high 1.30 range.

Great run. Im hoping to get in the 10.40 range this winter on my 100,000 mile stock shorty. Im changing my stock springs up fornt to a 275# QA1, revalving my shocks to a "R", putting on some 28x10.5 "S" rubber out back and lighten her up a bit. I also will scale the car when I get done with the weight reduction. Good luck with your goals and keep us posted.

John,my trans has a transgo shift kit,and i had a trans guy that i know install Alto red bands and clutches. It has a total of 500$ in it and has survived 80 mid 10 second passes this season and probably 50-60 passes last year. I have also a B&M,3 quart deeper pan and a temp guage. I never make a run untill temp is under 180,and it usually only goes up to 220. I use the whole shut down area and by the time i drive it back with both fans on its usually down to 200.Its held up great so far. This winter ill have him go through it and let me know how it has held up and evaluate it from there.

Wow no kidding. Did it start slipping at the end of last season or was that the season before, I recall you posting something along those lines a while back.
I remember back in 1998-2000 we used to discuss hotlapping and what was too hot, ie. to make a pass. We pretty much felt that anything over 200F was risky.

No it never had a slippnig problem.About 4 years ago this same time of year my stock rear (posi) broke on the starting line .The motor hit the rev limiter before i could react and took out the planatery in the trans.I took it to a fellow racer that has a trans shop and he replaced all of the planet and installed the new bands and clutches for 300$ . I had somewhere in the around 300-350 runs on it before it broke, not bad IMO.
