Arrow PRC 5.3 2.5 to mill or not?

I have a full bolt on + cam M6 z28. Next step for me is to get the PRC 5.3 2.5 heads. I would like to hear the pro's and con's of milling probably 10mm.

I live in MN, drive it only in the summer, 92 octane is the highest we have in MN.

Did you mean 10mm? Because that's ALOT of milling (about .40")! You should be able to mill those heads about .015" or so without piston to valve clearance issues. That will give a nice little bump in compression which will help your throttle response and mid-range numbers.

I personally would go with a .040" gasket instead of milling. You'll achieve roughly the same compression results, but with a better/tighter quench which helps ward off detonation issues.

Typically the thinner gasket is a little bit better than the milling. The good part of milling is it costs way less than Cometic gaskets... We typically like to run the cometic .040" when there's enough room!

Id go with a thinner gasket. You are someday going to want to run a larger cam, and when you do you dont want to have to worry about getting it flycut, like me...

Just making sure you knew that you can get over 92 in MN.

Thinner gasket unless you want to stay with a baby cam forever

Is thinner gasket = less chance of detention correct? I want to make sure they are equal to HP gain. Whatever is going to give me the most HP is what I want to do .

I wouldn't mill for fear that you can never run a larger camshaft without fly cutting.

Run a .040 Cometic. The downside is they ar $150 a set. And use the copper spray even though Cometic won't mention it.

I had the PRC 5.3s with my TR230. Car ran great and was fast! I put a car on a H/C MS3 ls6 intake car when I had a base tune and an ls1 intake. Great combo!
