Of course, it wasn't in the Camaro, since it's torn into a million pieces right now... :emb:
I took out my new (to me) daily driver '86 Chevy SB pickup for a little test & tune action. It's pretty basic, having a 4-bolt main 355 with forged TRW pistons, World Products S/R torquer 67cc heads, a tiny Crane energizer cam, and Hooker headers. The trans is a TH350, with a stock converter, and 2.73 gears out back.
The entire top end of the motor is fresh, and when I did all the work, discovered the 4-bolt mains, forged slugs, etc, which was a nice bonus.
Anyway, I ended up with a best pass tonight of 14.85 @ 90mph (which I'm really pleased with). The current exhaust system is an absolute joke (2" crimp-bent pipe with 2" bullet style mufflers), so it should stand to gain even more when I re-do the exhaust (2.5" mandrel bent system with Flowmaster Delta-Flo mufflers).
I have to admit, I had an absolutely great time running the slow truck tonight. No harness, no jacket, no helmet, no fighting wheelstands or getting loose @ half-track... Just cruisin' down the 1320 with the radio on. The truck is going to serve as my new daily driver and occasional bracket-racer since the Camaro is a looooooooooong way from ever running again right now.
With a few more tweaks here and there, I think a 100hp shot of N2O may net me a high 12-second timeslip from the old beater! :drive:
