Wow, a new best for me!!!!!
Of course, it wasn't in the Camaro, since it's torn into a million pieces right now...
I took out my new (to me) daily driver '86 Chevy SB pickup for a little test & tune action. It's pretty basic, having a 4-bolt main 355 with forged TRW pistons, World Products S/R torquer 67cc heads, a tiny Crane energizer cam, and Hooker headers. The trans is a TH350, with a stock converter, and 2.73 gears out back.
The entire top end of the motor is fresh, and when I did all the work, discovered the 4-bolt mains, forged slugs, etc, which was a nice bonus.
Anyway, I ended up with a best pass tonight of 14.85 @ 90mph (which I'm really pleased with). The current exhaust system is an absolute joke (2" crimp-bent pipe with 2" bullet style mufflers), so it should stand to gain even more when I re-do the exhaust (2.5" mandrel bent system with Flowmaster Delta-Flo mufflers).
I have to admit, I had an absolutely great time running the slow truck tonight. No harness, no jacket, no helmet, no fighting wheelstands or getting loose @ half-track... Just cruisin' down the 1320 with the radio on. The truck is going to serve as my new daily driver and occasional bracket-racer since the Camaro is a looooooooooong way from ever running again right now.
With a few more tweaks here and there, I think a 100hp shot of N2O may net me a high 12-second timeslip from the old beater!

Re: Wow, a new best for me!!!!!
I know how ya feel George!
I got the rear end of my SS tore apart right now, I'm basically mini tubbing her.
Anyway I went bracket racing last Saturday night with my 2000 Tahoe Z71. This truck is a tank! I got the big *** steel brush guard on the front and the steel side step tubes on the side. Anyway I made it 3 rounds before I got eliminated by a guy that ran right on his #. I had a better reaction and lost by .002 =(
I deep staged the truck, foot braked the launched to 1200 rpm and was able to cut consistant .530 lights LOL. Best of all my Tahoe Tank was dialed in at 17.83 hehe. The guy that eliminated me had a 68 Camaro dialed in at 10.79. I made him wait for 7 seconds, and I almost took him LOL.
This weekend is the last bracket racing night of the season for us at Moroso. =(

Wow that truck is pretty quick.
What was your 60, 2.2?
What was your 60, 2.2?
I have to confess, that's on 28x10.5 "freebie" slicks. There's no way I could make it down the track with the open diff and street tires. I tried it once and smoked one tire past the 1/8th mile.
