They explained that they have 35 HD cameras in the studio where the person is being hologrammed. Those cameras are connected with whatever camera is being used in the regular studio and the 35 HD feeds adjust to whatever movement and zoom the camera that is being broadcast.

its a blue or green screen, with real-time keying. laying on top of another keyed video layer. No new technology...pretty simple. The hardest part is anchoring the image and making sure nothing else appears in the keyed image...they make have used some masking too
