Could the LS7 Camaro be the Z28?
Think it's possible? It'd probably (note that I said probably) be cheaper for them to sell an NA engine over a supercharged engine that's only in the top dollar Corvette (not saying it won't eventually make it into the Camaro), but I mean, it's at least plausible...
Thoughts?

The LS7 and the LSA are not that far apart as far as performance is concerned. I really think it comes down to which one would be more cost effective for GM and help keep the price of the Z28 below $50k.

Everyone did push that the LS7 would end production by the time the Camaro started. However, just checking out the Auto Section of Yahoo, and they are still selling 2009 Corvette Z06's
Looks like the LS7 and Camaro will interlap.
However I do know the LS7 is rather expensive to build as it is handbuilt, where as the LS9 is an LS3 with a bolted on supercharger (among a few other things).
I dont believe the LS3 is handbuilt, which could greatly reduce costs, even if the LS9 parts had to be bolted on manually.
If that is the case, GM could easily build an LSA Camaro (basically a LS9 with a smaller pulley and injectors)

Hasn't the SS traditionally been the top dog? It wouldn't really make sense for the Z28 to cost more. However, at this time they'r not offering the Z28 at all, so by the time it comes out who knows how they'll shuffle the offerings?

The LS9 is all hand built just like the LS7 with titanium rods and other exotic metals throughout the rotating assembly so the LS9 would cost more then the LS7. Both would be very pricey to produce and would skyrocket the cost of the Z. The LSA, as I understand it, is pretty much an LS3 with a supercharger. It is produced on a line with the same bottom end and therefore can't be all that much more than an LS3 (labor should be about the same so your just paying for parts). If the Z is produced my money is on an LSA powerplant and a sticker in the high 40's-low 50's. The car will be a complete upgrade package, not just an SS with an LSA.
