Default 41-1/2" vs. 40-3/4" driveshaft

why are some of the ls1 driveshafts different lengths? i bought one off of ebay and its 40-3/4" and im worried about putting it in.

im not sure of the length but they should all be the same. except the 2.73 gears cars had a steel one i believe.

If and when you ever go for a custom unit, you should measure. You can use this to guage where your supposed to be.

I dont think it being too short will be an issue, rather if it was too big, as long as you get about 1/2" of slip w/ the DS in place and un bolted, your fine, if it wont move/slip then I would worry.
