Default LS9 Crate Engine Next Fall!!!

http://jalopnik.com/tag/LS9-Crate-Engine/

It's a go, but we won't see it until next fall.
Any ideas what it will cost?

It might in that range. Then again, how many other engines come with a nice warranty? The only other company I know of that offers a warranty with the 'complete' engines is LPE and it is very limited on what is covered.

As stated above def nice to get a 600+ hp engine with a warranty however unless I were building a show car id run an LSx block with an s88/s91 or Procharger F1 for that kind of money. Def a cool engine though!

I heard it was like $27k. For that price I could build 2 engines with that HP and buy a cool car to put it in.

Wow, if it is $27k I cannot see them selling many!
I am building a 69 Camaro and had considered the LS9, but not at that cost...
$27k (if that is correct) crate engine
+$2k for oil system (drysump)
+$1k computer and wiring harness
+$1-$2k misc front drive parts etc
= about $32k for a complete running engine.... ouch!

I believe the LS7 crate motor included the oiling system and the harness/ecu. Not sure if it came with front drive accessories however.

Well...it fits with the goofy way GM has done limited edition or extremely expensive crate motors in the past.

LT5...close to $25,000 in the early nineties but that was a stuipd expensive engine all around.
ZL1...what was that thing, $21,000 and a limited production run of individually numbered engines? Take a ramjet 502, swap the block out for aluminum, and raise the cost $10,000??!?
They did a small block that way too...insane cost and individually numbered.

I guess they are worried about selling insanely expensive engines to the crowd who wants an exclusive crate motor.

Question about the exhaust manifolds...they look symmetrical, which has to be better (e.g. for scavenging) than the normal, asymmetrical manifolds, yes?
